So sorry to hear about the passing of Chuck Sheffield. We were friends and sport’s competitors for years— Chuck at Jenkins and me at Savannah High. We have not seen or spoken to each other for quite a while but I greatly admired Chuck. My thoughts and prayers are with the Sheffield family. Tommy Bond

Hey Chuck, It's hard to believe that you are gone; you were such a staple of Savannah, but thank you for saying goodbye to me. I know you did and will always believe that. You were always genuinely you, a good buddy, funny and so darn cute. Marijo, you are a lucky woman to have captured his heart. Bless you Marijo.
Love to you Chuck, Pam Eason

I've been fortunate and blessed to have known Chuck since the first grade. He was always known as a great athlete and a wonderful friend. I vividly remember being with him when he received his professional grade baseball glove, given to him by his father. We will miss him and I pray that he is reunited with his loving parents, Dub and Althea. Our thoughts and prayers are with Marijo and family at this time. His memory will live on in the hearts of those who loved him.

Chuck and I have been friends since we were little kids. When we used to live on Skidaway Road, he used to come over and my daddy will show him how to help build a treehouse, make a tree swing or other outdoor projects. He was always fun to be around during those days growing up and even as adults now. He was the best fisherman ever. We will miss you Chuck.

Charles “Chuck” Wellington Sheffield Jr., a devoted husband, beloved father and grandfather, and treasured friend to many, passed away peacefully on July 2, 2025, with his wife by his side, as she always has been, Marijo-Pitts Sheffield.
Born and raised in Savannah, Georgia, Chuck was a gifted athlete from a young age. He attended Jenkins High School, where he played baseball and earned recognition on the All-City Basketball Team—an early testament to his lifelong love of sports. Chuck continued his athletic career at South Georgia College, where he played baseball and proudly competed in the College World Series, a memory he cherished and recounted with joy throughout his life. Chuck later attended Armstrong College, studying respiratory therapy and working briefly at Tattnall Memorial Hospital and Memorial Hospital in Savannah, GA. Though his time in the medical field was short, it reflected his desire to be of service to others.
Chuck built a long and successful career in sales, where his drive and charisma shone. Whether in business, sports, or fishing—his lifelong passion—Chuck approached everything with a competitive spirit and a determination to be the best. He always strove to be number one, whether on the field, on the water, or in the office.
Even as he battled the debilitating disease, idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis, Chuck’s strength and character never wavered. He faced his illness with courage and grace, never letting it diminish his love for the water, his loyalty to friends, or the deep devotion he had to his family. Fishing was always on his mind, and even more so was the joy of spending time with those he loved. He was also an avid golfer, always ready for a round with friends and the camaraderie that came with it. A proud and active member of his community, Chuck was known for his warmth, humor, and generous spirit. His friendships spanned decades, and he was a phenomenal friend to many whose lives were enriched by his presence.
Chuck is survived by his devoted wife, Marijo-Pitts Sheffield; his beloved son, William Brandon Brennan; and his cherished granddaughters, Emily and Anna Brennan (who referred to him as Grandaddy Fish). He is also survived by his loving sisters, Anne Meguiar (Ricky) and Marsha Herb. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles Wellington Sheffield Sr. and Althea Sheffield.
Chuck’s legacy of kindness, resilience, and a relentless will to live life fully will live on in the hearts of all who loved him. His was a life well-lived and deeply loved.
His service will be held July 8th, 2025 at the City Center located at 520 Cedar Street in Richmond Hill, Georgia starting at 2pm with reception to follow. Chuck requested contributions to Morgan’s Chapel Memorial Food Bank located at 3308 Shellman Bluff Rd. NE, Townsend, GA 31311 or SMA Angels Charity, P.O. Box 308, Richmond Hill, GA 31324.
Chuck would have wanted you to wear Coastal Fishing Attire to his service.
