Not sure what to say?

Chuck was a long time friend. With Chuck and Sharon, we enjoyed many years of laughter, conversations, meals. Good times. As I have missed Sharon, I will miss Chuck. Rest with the LORD, Chuck.

I will never forget Chuck’s genuine smile snd hugs. He always welcomed me and my family as part of his. His adoration for his wife and family was so evident, and It’s comforting to picture him and Sharon finally reunited.

I’m so very sorry to hear this. Prayers for his family and friends

Camping at the Lake, the boys loved Mr. Ermisch!

As a large family visiting from overseas we always received the warmest welcome. Mr. Ermisch was a big hit with the boys as you can see. A kind, loving family man, we shall miss him.
Heartfelt condolences and love to the entire Ermisch family.
Trina, Nigel, Matthew, Thomas, Alex, Mark and Jessie

My thoughts are with his son Chuck.
Charles (Chuck) was a very special man in my heart.
Bless him

I remember Uncle Chuck as a man full of energy, passion, and love for all in his family. He led family softball games, croquet tournaments, and many other competitive events, and he along with Aunt Sharon and Grandma Irene graciously hosted holiday visits with so many of us relatives.
I'm sad for his loss and wish our extended family peace and solace in this moment, and future happiness and gratitude through our memories.

Chuck and his wife Sharon were friends from of mine from Chicago and later in Macomb, Illinois. Sharon and I were roommates and later when she and Chuck were married I was in their wedding. I have kept in contact with Chuck thru the years and recently we talked of his not feeling well. No idea he would be taken from us so soon. Much sympathy to all the children and their families.

Our deepest condolences Jenni. Melissa & Chuckie (sorry but Donna has always called him Chuckie). Chuck was not only a dear friend he was like a family member. Donna knew Sharon & Chuck when all were 18 before they were married. They spent a lot of time together including at Chuck's parent's house when they all lived in Chicago. Donna lived with Sharon and 3 other girls in an apartment building where members of the Chicago Bears also lived on the North side of Chicago until the girls all...

My sincere condolences to Jenni and all branches of the entire Ermisch family as they celebrate the life of Mr. Chuck Ermisch. I had the honor of meeting Mr. Ermisch at Jenni's retirement party, and was truly blessed by his kind and caring spirit. May he rest in the peace of our heavenly father's presence, and may the spirit of the Lord comfort the entire family he left in this realm.
Lovingly... Michael Poe and family

Charles's Obituary

In Loving Memory

Charles Gordon Ermisch (Chuck), age 81, was called home to be with our Lord, Jesus Christ, on Sunday, January 31, 2021 after a very brief battle with lung cancer. Chuck was born in Milan, Missouri, grew up in West Chicago, IL, and graduated from Western Illinois University with a degree in Mathematics in June of 1963. He married his beautiful bride, Sharon Lee Wooldridge Ermisch on June 25, 1960. During their marriage they resided in Addison and then Worth, IL, Metairie, LA, Danbury, CT, Bonne Terre, MO, Orange Park, FL, and found their final residence in Kimberling City, MO beginning in 1994.

Chuck maintained a successful career with American Can Company starting in June of 1963. He held various positions over the years in the Chicago area, New Orleans, and headquarters in Greenwich with frequent travel to St. Louis, MO, Columbus, OH, and other parts of the country. He described his title as Quality Control and New Product Development - he was instrumental in establishing the operations of any new plant facilities and provided ongoing management services. In May of 1989 he began work in the same capacity for Metal Container Corporation in Jacksonville, FL and took early retirement in October of 1993. He then concluded his working years with Meek’s in Kimberling City, initially as a delivery driver and later as a manager in the paint department. He celebrated his official retirement in February of 2004. Throughout his working life he was an amazing provider for his family and took great pride in demonstrating an exceedingly strong and loyal work ethic.

Growing up, Chuck showed great passion for playing sports. He was a gifted athlete, especially in baseball as a left-handed pitcher and first baseman. He attended a spring training pitching camp in Florida and was offered the opportunity to continue with a farm club but instead of pursuing a career in baseball, he followed his heart, marrying Sharon and returning to college. Through the years, he also played in league softball, basketball, and was an avid golfer holding memberships at Terre Du Lac Golf and Country Club in Bonne Terre, MO, Orange Park Country Club in Florida, and Ledgestone Country Club in Branson West, MO. His greatest joy was found as an avid fan of his children’s activities, coaching some of their teams and loudly cheering for them, throughout their fundamental and college years.

Chuck was incredibly proud of and is survived by his three children, Jennifer Lee Biggs and husband Mike Biggs; Melissa Jo Herschend; and Charles Thomas Ermisch and wife Karen Ermisch. He has five biological grandchildren:  Nick and Caleb Biggs, Bradley and Abbi Herschend, and Aubree Ermisch as well as a great-grandchild, Evelyn Rose Herschend. He also has five step-grandchildren and seven step-great-grandchildren. Chuck is also survived by his sister, Jeannine Brock, his two nieces Reina Scott and Deanna Epps; his sister-in-law, Dona Tapp, and nine nieces and nephews on Sharon’s side of the family.

Chuck is predeceased by Sharon Lee Ermisch, the love of his life and wife of 53 years. He was also preceded in death by his son-in-law, Ron Herschend; sister-in-law, Patsy Wilkins; sister, Marilynn Mathis; and his parents, Nick and Bertha Ermisch, long-time residents of Lampe, MO.

During retirement, Chuck devotedly cared for his dear wife, Sharon, as she suffered from Frontotemporal Dementia (FTD), officially diagnosed in 2004. Beginning in 2007, she resided at Tablerock Healthcare only a few minutes from their home, where he faithfully visited every evening until her death in March of 2014. He also assisted with the care of his mother-in-law, Irene McCool who lived with Chuck and Sharon from 1994 to 2004 before moving to Tablerock Healthcare, and then oversaw the care of Irene, Chuck’s Aunt Betty Scharf, and Sharon when all three resided at the facility.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, February 5, 2021 at 1:00pm at the First Presbyterian Church, 420 W. Main St., Branson, MO followed by a private interment at Pinecrest Cemetery, Lampe, MO. Due to COVID restrictions, space is very limited. We will do our best to respect physical distancing and mask mandates and do not want to put anyone at risk. Please be assured that your presence is felt whether in-person or in-spirit. The funeral service will also be streamed online – if you would like to view it, please provide your email address or text to Jenni, Melissa or Chuck, and the church will send you a link.

In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations toward a memorial bench at Ledgestone Country Club to commemorate Chuck’s life and his 2009 hole-in-one (gofundme.com/f/chucksmemorialbench), or to the Association for Frontotemporal Degeneration (theaftd.org), as the disease significantly impacted Chuck and Sharon’s lives for over 13 years.
