C HARLES L EE F LORENCE , JR., 66, of Springfield, Illinois departed from this life on October 18, 2021, at Memorial Medical Center. He was born on May 30, 1955, in Springfield, Illinois, to June Zenobia Florence and Charles Lee Florence, Sr.
Charles married Florence Abodunrin Florence on February 22, 1987. Charles worked as a roofer for Sutton’s Roofing and Siding for over 15 years. He was known for his excellent food (most significantly his barbeque and fried chicken), his funny jokes, and his entertaining stories. In life, Charles was also known for being the dependable and strong rescuer and repairer of anything to anyone and everyone who ever needed him. Charles loved all of his family and friends very dearly.
He was preceded in death by his father, Charles Lee Florence Sr.; his sisters, Cheryl Angela Rowland and Jennifer Lenore Florence; and his brother, Dennis Eugene Florence.
Charles leaves to cherish his memories: his mother, June Zenobia Florence; his sister, Patty Lynn Florence; his daughter, Adebukola Fayemi and her husband, Seneca Johnson; his son, Philip A. Fayemi, Jr. and his wife, Yahremah Fayemi, a mass of nieces and nephews, and 12 wonderful grandchildren that he held close to him and loved dearly.
