Obituary

Charles's Obituary

Charles Allen Hunter of Norman, Oklahoma, went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Monday, March 9, 2026.

Charles is survived by his loving partner of 19 years, Susan Hunter, of the home, and her children Colby Bramlett and Jenni Smith and her husband Justin, all of Norman, Oklahoma. He is also survived by his daughters Sarah Lamb and her husband Jeremy of Norman, Oklahoma, and her sons Hunter Menefee and Hayden Menefee; and Alice Hunter and her daughter Lily of Colorado.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Wan and Lorene Hunter of Norman, Oklahoma, and by his brothers Kenneth Hunter, Tom Hunter, and Phillip Hunter.

Charles is survived by his brother Don Hunter and wife Tina of Moore, Oklahoma, and their children Kevin, Jennifer, and Courtney. He is also survived by his sisters Wanda Smith of Norman, Oklahoma, and her son Wan Allen Hunter and his wife Donna; and Linda Smith and her husband Gerald of Bridge Creek, Oklahoma, and their son Bobby Stanley and his wife April.

Charles leaves behind many beloved nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins who will cherish his memory.

Known affectionately as “Gramps,” Charles was a proud father and grandfather to his children and grandchildren, whom he loved dearly.

Charles spent 40 years working around the world and throughout the United States for Parker Drilling. He also worked for Latchaw Oil and Gas before retiring in 2020. He was proud of his work and the life it allowed him to build for those he loved.

For more than 50 years, Charles enjoyed riding his Harley, especially alongside Susan and many close friends. Those rides were made even more special with his best friend John Hart and John’s wife Darlene, whose friendship meant so much to him. Charles also had a constant and trusted companion—his dog Sam, who never left his side and brought him great comfort and loyalty.

The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the doctors, nurses, and staff at Mercy Hospital, whose tireless care truly reflects the Lord’s work each and every day. May God bless each one of you. A special thank you is also extended to John Hart, Don Hunter, Linda Smith, and Scotty Davis for all the care, time, and work they devoted to helping Charles.

Charles—known lovingly to many as Charlie—will be deeply missed. He was dearly loved by all who knew him. May he now rest in peace, surrounded by God’s comfort and everlasting love.

We all love you, Charlie.

A private family memorial is planned for a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of Eisenhour Funeral Home of Blanchard. Online obituary and guestbook are available at www.eisenhourfh.com.
