Chuck Hurt passed away on Sunday, July 6, 2025, in Cookeville, TN. He was 85 years old. Chuck was born on January 30, 1940. He attended Missoula County High School, Sentinel High School, and the University of Montana, where he majored in Music.
Chuck enjoyed music, and played at many clubs, restaurants, plays, jazz festivals, and Church services. In 2014, jazzoula, the Missoula Jazz Festival, honored Chuck with an award at their annual festival. Chuck and some musician friends produced a great CD commemorating the event. Rex Rieke, piano, Melody Anderson, vocals, Pete Hand, bass, Dick Skulton, accordion, with Chuck featured on guitar.
In 1971 Chuck started selling real estate for First Montana Real Estate. He opened Hurt & Associates Real Estate in 1974. He was active in the Realtor Organization and was awarded Realtor of the Year in the Missoula in 1984, and then Realtor of the year for the State of Montana that year also.
Chuck was preceded in death by his father, Ray V. Hurt, mother, Lillian G. Hurt, sisters, betty Lucas, and Juanita Orr, Myron, and brother, Larry Hurt. Chuck is survived by his wife, Deborah Hurt, daughter, Carla Hurt, Zinglles Sousa, sister-in-law, Dorie Hurt, brother-in-law, Troy Siefert, Julie, sister-in-law, Pam Gappa, Ward, and three granddaughters, Lily, Zofia, and Lucia, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He will be missed by many dear friends and relatives.
A Celebration of Life will be held at CLC, 3801 S. Russell St., Missoula, MT on August 29 at 3:00P.M.
