I am so sorry to hear this. Mr Buntain and myself were the only ones outside during the summer in the neighborhood. We were always doing something. Sending prayers for you all. Know he will be missed by many.

Funeral Service Broadcast for Charles Owen Buntain

Charles Owen Buntain, 89, husband of Connie Hammond Buntain, passed away on December 3, 2025, at Frankfort Regional Medical Center in Frankfort, KY. Born in Lexington, KY, on November 22, 1936, he was the son of the late Grant Cole Buntain and Lulie Powell Young Buntain.

Charles Owen proudly served his country in the U.S. Army as a Sergeant (SP5) from 1958–1962. After completing his military service, he began a long and dedicated career with Wild Turkey Distillery, where he worked faithfully for 42 years. He was a member of Sand Spring Baptist Church. Well known for maintaining an immaculate lawn, he also enjoyed gardening, watching University of Kentucky basketball and football, and following the Cincinnati Reds.

Including Connie, his wife of 62 years, he is survived by his son, Brad Buntain, and his wife, Chris, of Lawrenceburg; his grandchildren, Haleigh (James) Thompson and Hunter (Kelsey) Buntain;  his great-grandchildren, Hayden, Holten, Huxten, and Haislee Thompson, and Jaxon and Isaac Buntain; a brother, Grant “Petie” Buntain (Debra); a sister, Linda Buntain Ritchie; and a brother-in-law, James “Bubby” Hammond (Angela).

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, December 6, 2025, at Ritchie & Peach Funeral Home. Dr. Mike Hamrick will officiate. Burial with military honors will follow in the Lawrenceburg Cemetery. Visitation will be held prior to the service on Saturday from 11 AM–1 PM.

Serving as pallbearers will be Hunter Buntain, Hayden Thompson, James Thompson, Chris Buntain, Brian Ritchie, and Dave Buntain. Charles Owen’s great-grandchildren will serve as honorary bearers.

Memorials in memory of Charles Owen Buntain are suggested to Sand Spring Baptist Church, P.O. Box 166, Lawrenceburg, KY 40342.
