I spent a lot of time visiting at the Perteete house during high school and Mr. Perteete and his wife were always very welcoming and friendly. I admired all the work Mr. Perteete did for the city of Rockford. He was well known and respected by Rockford officials. So sad for Cheryl, Philip and the rest of the children. I know the pain of losing a spouse also, so my heart goes out to Mrs. Perteete. What a great example of a loving family! RIP Mr. Perteete and dance with Jesus!

Since that day and throughout my life in this community and as a 42 year veteran of the Rockford Police Department, I have known Mr. Perteete as he served this community in many different capacities.
