In the early 1980s he left IBM to do similar work with Data General and retired in the mid-1990s.Chuck seized his life; he had passions for cooking, cars and boats. He was a man of love and his greatest passion was his family. He assembled a platoon of children and grandchildren from three marriages. With delight Chuck embraced Jan?s adult children, Rick, Keith and Marci. Jan?s grandchildren lovingly dubbed him GQ, short for Grandpa Quackenbush. This brought him 8 more grandchildren. Rick and wife Kim brought him Alexandria, Schuyler and Macauley. Keith brought him Allison and Andrew and Marci Byrne brought him McKinley, Griffin and Cooper. For several years they split their seasons between Georgia and the Jersey shore but eventually became full time Georgians. They shared their home in Alpharetta, Georgia with their beautiful dog Lilah. Chuck and Jan are enthusiastic members of the Sea Bright Beach Club and enjoyed spending several weeks every summer back on the Jersey shore reuniting with friends and family. In Alpharetta, Chuck was on the Board of Directors of the Alpharetta Lions Club and was involved in many of their charitable projects. Chuck?s family and friends enjoyed his appetite for life. All who knew him agreed he had a wonderful mind and a dry, quick, happy sense of humor.
