Charles Robert “Bob” Stevens, age 88, of Marietta, GA (formerly Somerset, KY), passed away on Monday, February 16, 2026 at Kennestone Regional Medical Center.
Bob was born on January 9, 1938, in Bandy, KY, to the late Elmer Stevens and Lyda Marcum Stevens. He worked as a Patient Aid for Oakwood for many years. Bob was a wonderful, loving husband, father, and grandfather, often called “pawpaw” in his grandchildren’s younger years.
To everyone who met Bob, he was a caregiver and peacemaker. His empathy, compassion, and selflessness were palpable in every conversation he kept and every moment he shared. Throughout his life, he was surrounded by people who loved him and who he loved. Bob always put his family first, especially before himself. He cared for and protected not only his family members—including his wife, Hazel, until the end of her life—but also people with whom he had no personal relationship. In his last professional role before retirement, he cared for people experiencing developmental disabilities and related conditions. For his patients and family members alike, he cared in a way that preserved the dignity, humanity, and memory of each person until they moved on from his care in one way or another. Bob will always be remembered as a selfless soul who dedicated his life to caring for others and supporting them in any way he could. Thank you, Bob, for teaching us to love through your life of humble service and love for all.
He is survived by one daughter, Vicki Holton of Marietta, GA; two grandchildren, Jenna Holton and Steven Kerpics; and several nieces, nephews, and other family members who are saddened by his passing.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Russell Stevens, Carl Stevens, and Ray Stevens; and two sisters, Joyce Broyles and Kathleen Poynter.
Visitation will be on Friday, February 20, 2026, from 11:00am until 1:00pm at Lake Cumberland Funeral Home.
His funeral service will follow on Friday at 1:00pm at the Chapel of Lake Cumberland Funeral Home with Bro. Jordan Burks officiating. Burial will be at Woodstock Cemetery in Eubank.
