Dearest Sandra, Terri & Kevin, and Family,
We are heartbroken to hear of Charles's passing and extend our deepest sympathies to you all during this profound time of loss. As the friends who were blessed to join him on those unforgettable ATV adventures through the desert, we hold cherished memories close to our hearts—the thrill of the rides, the simple joy of sharing a meal (with fruit pies!), and the laughter, love, and steadfast faith that seemed to flow effortlessly from his kind...

Our prayers are with your family in this time of loss. But we are also rejoicing in knowing we will see him again one day. Many great memories of my youth as y’all served in ministry at church. And we greatly appreciated you both for your part in our sweet wedding over 46 years ago. I have always remembered how You made your home available and how Charles was willing to take the pictures for us. I always share it when talking about our wedding. 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18

Charles's Obituary

Charles Van Dyke (1943 – 2025)

Charles Van Dyke, 82, of Blythe, California, passed away peacefully surrounded by family.

Born in 1943 in Artesia, California, Charles grew up in southern California until moving to Arizona in 1954, where he finished school, got married, began farming, and started his family.  The family moved to Blythe in 1971, where he made his home and built a life rooted in faith, family, and farming. A devoted husband, father, and man of deep Christian faith, Charles was known for his integrity, hard work, and kindness to everyone he met.

Charles is survived by his beloved wife, Sandra, his partner through more than six decades of love and devotion, and by his three daughters, who will forever cherish his guidance, humor, and steadfast love.  He was Papa to fourteen wonderful grandchildren, and Great Papa to eight delightful great grandchildren.

He spent his career as a farmer, developing crops with excellence, while investing in his employees and others in the valley.  His quiet strength, generosity, and unwavering faith were a consistent example to all who knew him.  Exploring the surrounding desert with friends and family on ATVs,  he created many wonderful memories that will be cherished for years.  Charles’s service to his local church his entire life and the Palo Verde Irrigation District board for 28 years have impacted his community by his wise leadership, generosity, and self sacrifice.

A service celebrating Charles’s life will be held at Frye Chapel in Blythe, California on Saturday, November 8th at 11 a.m., with visitation beginning at 9:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to The Gideon’s International where he faithfully served.

Charles will be deeply missed, but his legacy of faith, integrity, and love will live on in the hearts of his family and friends.
