Charles Walter Varney, 79, of McAndrews, KY, passed away Monday, March 9, 2026, at his residence. Charles was born February 16, 1947, in McAndrews, KY, the son of Yantice Reynolds Varney of McAndrew, KY, and the late John Varney JR. Charles was also preceded in death by two grandsons, Luke Martin and Baby Varney. Charles was a former plant foreman working in the coal mining industry. He loved horses, cars and building things, but his greatest love was for his grandchildren and spending time with them. Charles is survived by his children, John (Becky) Varney of Winchester, KY, Jerry (Mechella) Varney of McAndrews, KY, Scotty (Brooke) Varney of Richmond, KY, Phyllis Marguet of Florida and Amy (Brian) Martin of Canada, KY; his siblings, Phyllis (Randal) Good, Wanda May, Bobby (Rita) Varney and Shelia Smith; grandchildren, Matthew (Jessica) Varney, Leslie Covington, Madison Varney, Chelsea Varney, Mason Varney, Kinsley Varney, Logan Elkins, Lexie Elkins, Lydia Elkins, Claudia Elkins, Gabriel Elkins, Moses Elkins, Hunter Marguet, Dillon Marguet, Ethan Marguet, MaKenzie Marguet, Eli Martin, Benjamin Martin, Ava Martin and Evie Martin; great grandchildren, Will Varney, Charlie Varney, Zara Covington, Scarlett Smith and a host of loving family and friends.
