Cheryl Lee Johnston
Cheryl Lee Johnston, adopted daughter of Howard and Bertha Lee Johnston, passed way on October 14, 2025, at Aperion Care Center in DeKalb. She was born on December 3, 1949, and grew up in DeKalb, graduating from DeKalb High School in 1968. Cheryl held a variety of jobs over the years, but her passion was caring for senior citizens who needed assistance. This care-giving role was her focus for nearly 20 years.
Cheryl is survived by her life partner, Duane Cook; her sister, Yvonne Johnstad of Lodi, California; her son and daughter-in-law, James and Tasha Miller of Rochelle; and six grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, October 20 at Fairview Park Cemetery in DeKalb with Pastor Russell Drumi officiating. Arrangements were entrusted to Finch Funeral Home 310 Oak St. DeKalb, IL 60115 815-758-3841.
