With heavy hearts, the family of Christina McKay announces her passing on February 26, 2026. Christina was born on September 13, 1975, in Harris County, Texas, and throughout her life she touched the hearts of many with her warmth, kindness, and unforgettable spirit.
Christina was a devoted daughter, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend whose love for her family was the center of her life. She is survived by her parents, Sandra G. Light and Johnny McKay; her sister, Kelly Scott and her husband David; and her beloved sons, Cody S. McKay and Dillon D. McKay and his wife Victoria McKay. Christina’s greatest joy in life was her precious grandson, Declan, who she lovingly described as the joy and love of her life. Being his grandmother filled her heart with a happiness that words cannot fully express.
Christina pursued her education at San Jacinto Community College, where she worked toward a degree in Social and Behavioral Science. She had a deep desire to help others and was drawn to a career in emergency services. As an emergency services dispatcher, Christina became a calm and compassionate voice for those experiencing some of the most difficult moments of their lives. She proudly served several agencies throughout her career, including the Pasadena Independent School District Police Department, the South Houston Police Department, the Harris County Constable’s Office, and most notably, the 18 years she faithfully dedicated to Texas Parks and Wildlife. Her work was more than a job—it was a calling to serve and protect her community.
Outside of her work, Christina embraced life with enthusiasm and a love for adventure. She was an avid cruiser and found great joy traveling the seas, completing more than 30 cruises over the years. Those trips brought her peace, excitement, and countless treasured memories with the people she loved.
Christina had a smile that could light up any room and a laugh that was truly unforgettable. Her sense of humor, kindness, and genuine heart made it easy for people to feel comfortable around her. She had a special way of bringing light and warmth wherever she went, and her presence will be deeply missed by everyone who knew her.
In her later years, Christina found comfort and strength in her faith. She devoted time to prayer and to studying her Bible, growing closer to God and finding peace in His word.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Carmen Walker for her unwavering friendship of over 30 years. Your loyalty, love, and support meant so much to Christina and to all who love her.
