Carthage

 

Christopher P. (Stretch) Chartrand, Sr.,58, of 35965 Jackson II Road, died Wednesday, December 6, 2017 at SUNY Upstate Hospital, Syracuse where he was a patient for 6 days. 

 

Christopher was born on July 28, 1959 in Watertown, the son of the late Francis and Frances B. (Sarama) Chartrand. He was a 1977 graduate of Carthage Central High School. He worked on several area farms before his employment with New York Air Brake from 1977 until 1992. His marriage to Dawn M. Spencer resulted in the birth of his two children. He has been a heavy equipment operator for several NNY construction firms and was proud to have worked on the new extension from Rt. 81 to Fort Drum. He currently was a plow operator on Fort Drum.

 

He was a member of the VFW Post # 7227 in Carthage and was a former member of the FFA and the Copenhagen Fire Department.  He loved hunting, camping and NASCAR.

 

He is survived by his longtime companion, Lori J. Krupp of Carthage, a daughter and son-in-law: Mrs. T.J.(KendraLee) A. Kittelson of Watertown, a son: Christopher P. Chartrand Jr. and his companion Cassie Powell of Theresa, 7 Grandchildren and was expecting his first great grandchild within days, two sisters: Mrs. Thomas (Cecilia) Perkins of Sackets Harbor and Mrs. Thomas (Cynthia) Kopp of Bridgeport, WV, one brother: Carl Chartrand of Black River and nieces and nephews.

 

Calling hours will be held on Thursday, December 14 from 4-6pm at the Bezanilla-McGraw Funeral Home in Carthage followed by a “Celebration of Life” at the VFW in Carthage at 6:00pm.
