It was a big shock to find out that you passed Chris! It hurts my heart, so I can only guess what it is doing to your family! I know your flying high with the Angels! and running into old friends and family members! From the Seaholm family in Sweden town..Blessings and love to the Crancer Family

Chris Crancer, also known as “Stein” and “Chili Benson”, died at the age of 67 on Thursday, March 7, 2019. He was born in Louisville, Kentucky to Ester Lois (Bing) Crancer and Ray A. Crancer who along with his brother Steven B. Crancer and feline friend, Carl, preceded him in death.
Chris touched many lives through his musical talents, dark humor, and quick wit. He was considered “weird in the best way”. He played in many bands locally; most notably Dead Body, Pop Clutch and the Four Speeds, The Nightcrawlers, and Carl Benson’s Wildcats. He was a walking encyclopedia of pop culture and was champion of the Great Death Society for 14 years. His musical listening varied but he particularly enjoyed Rockabilly, Carl Perkins, MC5, The Beatles, Elvis and NRBQ. His creation of “Jungle Land” located at his Obell Street residence was enjoyed by friends and acquaintances who strolled about this unique and quirky backyard tribute to Elvis.
Chris is survived by his wife Paula, sons Ian (Denise) and Jack (Jennifer), grandsons Christopher and Nicholas, sister Connie Crancer, cats Flea Biscuit and Louie Louie, and sister Bonnie Hart. In addition to his family, he left behind many friends and fellow musicians who will miss him dearly.
A Celebration of Life will be announced at a later date.
Beacon Cremation & Funeral Service is in charge of arrangements.
