Christopher's Obituary

Christopher Lee Shearin, 40, of Hampton, VA, entered eternal peace and rest on Saturday, August 16, 2025, at Sentara CarePlex Hospital.

He was born on January 3, 1985, to Joseph Lee Shearin, Jr, and Ms. Odell Whitehead at  Southampton Memorial Hospital in Franklin, VA. At an early age, he accepted Christ as his personal savior and was a member of Shiloh Baptist Church in Boykins, VA.

Chris was an avid sports fan with a true love for the New York Jets and the Boston Celtics.  Chris was not afraid of hard work; before enduring health complications, he was a welder and carried a flame for cooking. His favorite movie was Moonwalker, and his favorite color was red.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Ms. Odell Whitehead; his maternal grandparents, Mr. Elmer Boone, and Mrs. Ludell (Whitehead) Brown; his paternal grandparents, Mr. Joseph Lee Shearin, Sr. and Mrs. Oberry Shearin; two aunts, Mrs. Shirley Majette and Ms. Cindy Young; three uncles, Mr. Luther Whitehead Jr., Mr. Linwood Whitehead, and Mr. Nathan Shearin.

Chris leaves to cherish in his memories two sons, Taejon L. Johnson and Rashon D. Johnson of Hampton, Virginia; his father, Mr. Joseph Lee Shearin, Jr., of Franklin, VA; one sister, Ms. Tamika (Kisha) Shearin, of Hampton, VA; two aunts, Ms. Margaret Luney, of Oxnard, CA and Mrs. Annie (Mickey) Dickerson, of Virginia Beach, VA.; three uncles, Alvesta Whitehead (Margaret) of Franklin, VA,  Mr. Willie Bass (Michelle) and  Mr. Lloyd Bass (Beverly) both of Newport News VA; one god-brother, Christopher Gary, of Suffolk, VA; his loyal friend and confidant, Ms. Brenda Buggs, of Suffolk, VA; and a host of cousins and close friends.

A Homegoing Service will be celebrated at 11;00 am on Saturday, September 6,2025, at Berceuse Funeral and Cremation Traditions followed by a reception at the funeral home.
