Claire A. (Desrochers) Desaulniers, of Somerville, passed away surrounded by the love of her family, in the home she was born and raised, on December 4, 2025. She was 79. Born in Somerville, Claire was the youngest of seven born to Clara (Gelinas) and Alphonse Desrochers. In earlier years she worked for the Schrafft's Candy Company and M.L. Fields before devoting herself to raising her family. The beloved wife of Jean Pierre Desaulniers, they were married in Canada in 1967 and celebrated 58 years together. The couple first settled in Canada to begin their family and would return to Somerville in 1970. Especially devoted to her family, Claire was the matriarch of the extend Desrochers and Desaulniers families. She delighted in babysitting for family and always made sure everyone was well fed and cared for. Claire enjoyed watching the Hallmark Channel, playing cards, and despite being from Boston, she was a passionate fan of the Montreal Canadiens. An active member of St Ann Church, she faithfully prayed the rosary every night. Beloved wife of Jean Pierre Desaulniers, she is the devoted mother of Shirley Desaulniers and her fiancé Walter Medrano of Somerville, Kathy Lafee and her husband Robert of Somerville, Debbie Stebbins and her husband Adrian of Everett, Pierre Desaulniers and his wife Nicole of Tewksbury, Jason Desaulniers and his wife Kelly of Methuen and Crystal Desaulniers and her fiancé Patrick McMahon of Somerville. Cherished grandmother of Shayne, Miranda, Brandon, Cole, Jayden, Alyson, Jacob, Emma, Hollis, Ryder, Aria, Justin and Brendan. Dear sister of the late Normand and his wife Nancy, Jill and her husband Blair, Flo and her husband William, Robert and his wife Beth, Roger and his wife Wilma, Leo and his wife Dolores. Loving aunt to many nieces and nephews. Calling Hours will be held in the George L. Doherty Funeral Home, 855 Broadway (Powder House Sq.) Somerville on Sunday, December 14th from 2:00PM – 5:00PM. Relatives and friends invited to attend. Funeral Procession will begin on Monday, December 15th at 9:00AM followed by a Funeral Mass celebrated in St. Ann Church at 10:00AM. Services will conclude with burial at Woodlawn Cemetery, Everett.
