Not sure what to say?

Aunt Clara (or Aunt Clare as many of us called her) was one of the sweetest, kindest, classiest, most beautiful people I know. She loved her family and was such an encourager, always with a self-deprecating sense of humor and funny stories especially about our family or her family dogs through the years. I truly appreciate her kindness, excellent example, and open home and heart as we were growing up. It’s hard to believe she’s gone. Uncle Aubrey, Pop, Joe, Monica, & Patrick - our hearts...

Rest in peace and know that you were loved

Condolences and prayers to her family! May she rest in eternal peace!

My beautiful Auntie and Godmother — Losing you hurts in ways I can’t fully put into words, but I smile when I think of the many wonderful memories we shared throughout my life. The love you poured into everyone around you will never fade. Thank you for the moments, the laughter, and the love-kisses. Rest peacefully. I love you forever.

Aunt Clara you are missed more than you know, you were so funny and sweet and loved on all your nieces and nephews like they were your own children, thank you for being apart of my upbringing and kiss my momma for me. Love you Pop, Joe, Monica and Pat.

Thank you for being such a caring and patient teacher. You helped build the foundation for so many through faith with love, gentle guidance, and a true heart for God. I will always remember your warm smile and the way you made every child feel special and supported on our spiritual journey.

May God welcome you home with joy and wrap you in His eternal peace.
Rest in heaven.

May God bless you and your family in this time of sorrow. May her Soul Rest In Eternal Peace.

MAY Your Soul REST IN PEACE AMEN ✝✝✝

Our prayers are with you all during this time.

Clara's Obituary

Clara Ann Semien, 75, of Raywood, Texas, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on November 12, 2025. Born in Raywood on August 2, 1950, to Gladys Lavine Stelly and Francis Stelly, Clara was the fourth of five children. She is lovingly remembered by her siblings: Peter “Buddy” Stelly (Barbra), John “Tish” Stelly (Phyllis), and James “Jim” Stelly (Lola). She was preceded in death by her younger sister Clora A. Stein, sister-in-law Phyllis Stelly, and her parents.

Clara was a proud graduate of Woodson High School, where she earned her diploma, and went on to receive her Bachelor of Science in Education from Prairie View A&M University. Clara was also a proud member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.  With a deep love for learning and a passion for shaping young minds, Clara began her teaching career in Washington, D.C. After returning to Texas, she served the Liberty ISD community for over 30 years as a 1st grade teacher at San Jacinto Elementary. Her patience, warmth, and dedication created a strong educational foundation for hundreds of children, many of whom remembered her fondly throughout their lives.

On December 15, 1973, Clara married Aubrey D. Semien, Sr. Together they built a life rooted in faith, family, and commitment, sharing almost 52 years of marriage. Their union together brought about four children Aubrey (Beatriz) Semien, Joseph (Tawanna Dobson) Semien, Monica (Terrence) Semien-Thomas and Patrick (Tonisha) Semien.

Clara was not only a devoted wife but an extraordinary mother. She nurtured her children with gentle strength, endless support, and a heart full of compassion. She taught them the importance of faith, hard work, humility, and kindness. Her family was the center of her world, and she poured her love into every moment—whether offering guidance, cheering from the sidelines, celebrating milestones, or simply being a steady and comforting presence. Her children and grandchildren are a true reflection of the values she instilled.

Clara was a devoted grandmother to Alyson Semien, Shelby Williams, Aubrey “Trey” Semien III, Katelyn Semien, Shane Semien, Avery Thomas, Aaron Thomas, Anias Thomas, Bella Semien and Tamara Eggins. Her granddaughter Nevaeh Thomas preceded her in death.

She is also survived by a host of cousins, nieces, and nephews, all of whom she loved dearly.

Clara will be remembered for her gentle spirit, strong faith, generosity, and the lasting impact she made on her family, her students, and her community. Her beautiful legacy will remain alive in every heart she touched.

“Well done, good and faithful servant.” – Matthew 25:23
