Clarence's Obituary

Clarence Henry Allen III, affectionately known to all as "Sonny," was born on March 31, 1946 to the late Clarence Henry Allen Jr. and Esther Marie Allen in South Baltimore, Maryland. On November 5, 2015, Sonny heard the clarion bells and he went home to his Heavenly Father. Sonny grew up in South Baltimore, where he developed many lasting friendships and relationships. Sonny received his education in Baltimore City Public Schools. He was known to be a star athlete, where he excelled in wrestling and football. Sonny's athletic performance was recognized in the city's paper during his time. He obtained his High School Diploma from Southern High School. In 1966, Sonny joined the United States Army and served in Germany for one tour of duty. Throughout his life, Sonny worked in several capacities. Sonny enjoyed working with his father in the family business. He also worked at the Chevrolet Plant and many years at McCormick & Co. After many years of working, Sonny retired from the Yellow Cab Mobility Van Service. In 1970, he married his high school sweetheart, Brenda J. Peoples and from that union two daughters were born, Karen and Kristen Allen. Sonny loved his daughters; he always bragged about their success to everyone he came across. He never missed a graduation, a recital, or sporting event for his daughters or his grandchildren. In his later years, Sonny spent his weekends following his grandchildren, Krislyn, Kaleb, and Kedrick, at soccer and football games. He rededicated his life to Christ on July 15, 2012, under the preach word of his oldest grandson of Alan-Michael Carter and joined the Shiloh Christian Community Church, under the leadership of Pastor Jimmy C. Baldwin. Sonny thoroughly enjoyed his life. He was an avid movie buff. He enjoyed going to the theater and catching all of the latest movies. He was known for his cooking abilities, specializing in ribs. He always cooked the ribs for all family gatherings. Sonny loved to go to restaurants and trying new dishes. He developed many relationships wherever he went, but he had his favorite waitresses. His most favorite pastime was playing double-deck pinochle. Sonny was an ardent pinochle player. He had many memories traveling with his pinochle team. In his senior years, he resided in the Randallstown to-op Pavilion with many other seniors. There enjoyed taking computer class and traveling on senior trips. He leaves to cherish his loving memories: two daughters; Karen (Leonard) Allen-Curtis and Kristen Allen; four grandchildren, Alan-Michael Carter, Krislyn Dorsey, Kaleb Curtis, and Kedrick Curtis; he is survived by a devoted sister, Leah Allen Sands and brother-in-law, Russell Sands. He also leaves to cherish two sisters, Carolyn Risper and Valerie Allen; nephews, Ernest (Deborah) Risper, Aaron (Delmetrice) Risper, and Chad Allen; nieces, Samara Lomax, Tara Dargan, and Tamara Lomax; and many cousins, great nieces and great nephews, cousins and other relatives who loved him dearly.
