Visitation will be held for Mr. Clarence Gordon Sr. on Monday, October 12, 2015 at the Wilson Funeral Home Chapel, 3000 N 29th Street, Tampa, FL. Services will be held in Mobile, Alabama. Arrangements in Mobile are in the care of Lovetts Funeral Home, 404 Dr. MLK, Jr. Avenue, Mobile, AL 36603. Telephone: 251.433.5302Mr. Clarence Leon Gordon, Sr., surrounded by family and fiends in his home, entered into eternal peace on October 7, 2015. Clarence was born in Prichard, Alabama on July 23rd, 1951 to the late Fred Gordon and Rosalie Mills Gordon.Clarence (a.k.a. "Skeet") was a product of the Mobile County Public School System, where he graduated from Mattie T. Blount High School (class of 1969) and actively utilized his talent to blow the saxophone for the Marching Leopards. Skeet attended Southern University (Baton Rouge, Louisiana) where he was a proud member of the Human Jukebox (Jaguars Marching Band). One of his proudest accomplishments and most memorable times of his life, he often spoke of this period of his life as the foundation. His years in college let him to serve in the United States Air Force being retired in 1980.Skeet decided that his family would remain in Tampa and he gave 38 years of dedication and honorable service to the government of the United States until retiring from the St. Petersburg Postal Service. He shared many memories of the docks with his fellow mail handlers and everyday people. His quality of life consisted of using his tools to build things, which granted him satisfaction in knowing that the job was done right.Clarence is survived by his devoted wife, Sharon Gordon and loving son, Clarence Gordon, Jr. Skeet, the fifth of seven children, was preceded in death by his parents and his oldest brother Fred Gordon, III. His toolshed of memories is left behind to be cherished by his two sisters, Annie Cockrell and Rosa Gordon (Mobile, AL) and three brothers, Edward Gordon (Pittsburg, PA), Alfred Gordon (Dallas, TX), and Albert Gordon (Mobile, AL). His fight with cancer was met head on and assisted by dedicated friends, family, and medical personnel that walked , talked, and comforted him in his time of need.
