Claron Whipple Jorgensen, resident of Corte Madera for 66 years, passed away peacefully on the evening of August 6, 2025 at the age of 94.
He was born April 12, 1931 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Essie June Whipple Jorgensen and Emil Claron Jorgensen. He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Phyllis, brother John, his wife of 49 years, Angelica B. Jorgensen, 2 of his nephews and granddaughters, Carlee Angelica Mieure and Allison Marjorie Mieure.
Claron is survived by his wife of 21 years, Fay V. Jorgensen; his children, Cynthia Werner (Duncan), Claron Mark Jorgensen, Laurence Paul Jorgensen, and Christiane Mieure (Steven); six stepchildren, Maria Buelo (Craig), Bart Hughes (Hana), Rene Johnson, Suzanne Ball (Nick), Roberta Hughes, and Katie Hughes. Claron is also survived by 15 grandchildren: Claron Werner, Reed Werner, Simon Werner, Nathaniel Werner, Benjamin Werner, Tobias Werner, Eric Jorgensen, Jennifer Jorgensen, Julia Hughes, Mikel Jorgensen, Elise Jorgensen, Lily Jorgensen, Zachary Mieure, Tanner Mieure, and Callie Garner as well as 39 great-grandchildren.
He attended UCLA, joined the ROTC and graduated in 1953 with a Bachelor's degree in Economics. Claron was commissioned 2nd Lieutenant in the United States Air Force and stationed in San Antonio, Texas where he began Flight Training.
Claron married Angelica Boyle December 22, 1953 in the Mesa Arizona Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. They moved to Hondo, Texas where Claron continued his flight training.
After his full-time service in Air Force was completed, Claron joined the Air Force Reserves serving for many years and achieved the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. He was recalled to Active Duty in 1962 during the Cuban Missile Crisis, as well as being on Active Duty for the Vietnam War.
Later he returned to flying for Pan American Airlines for 10 years. When Pan American sold their Pacific routes, he moved to United Airlines and continued flying until his retirement in 1996. During his career, he visited many of the countries in the world.
After he retired, he became even more active in serving others and was busy every day helping someone.
He served in the town of Corte Madera on the Flood Board. He also served on the Town Council and as Mayor of Corte Madera. He was a founding member of the Madera Gardens Homeowners Association. Claron loved to sing and was a member of the College of Marin Chorus/Marin Oratorio for thirty years. He had a lovely deep bass voice. His goal was to prepare his voice for singing in his mother's choir in heaven.
Claron was very active in his Church service. He was a life-long Boy Scout and achieved the rank of Eagle Scout when he was a young man. He loved being Assistant Scoutmaster and accompanied the Boy Scouts on many adventures, including the unforgettable trip to Baja California where the boys enjoyed driving Dune Buggies which Claron helped them to build.
Claron loved the outdoors and camping, hiking, and fishing. He and his buddies liked hunting, first, with bow and arrow, later with rifles, and finally with their cameras.
The Funeral Service will be held at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 220 North San Pedro Rd., San Rafael, California on August 23, 2025 at 11:00am.
