I was saddened to read of Cleo's passing. I worked with her for many years at Coburg Dairy. She was a very sweet lady and I have fond memories of those good old days. My sincere sympathy to her family.

Cleo Lacey Platt, 96, of Ravenel, widow of William Joseph Platt, Sr., and the last surviving of 8 children, died Wednesday evening, April 4, 2012 at the Hospice Center of Charleston, Mount Pleasant. Funeral service will be held Saturday, April 7, 2012 at 11 o'clock at Sauldam Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 6 until 8 o'clock Friday evening or at the church from 10 o'clock until the hour of service on Saturday. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to: Sauldam Baptist Church Children's Department, 5945 County Line Road, Ravenel, SC 29470.Mrs. Platt was born December 22, 1915 in Ravenel, daughter of the late Jacob Legare Lacey and Florence Martin Lacey. She was a graduate of St. Paul's High School, Yonges Island and she attended Stokes Business College. She was a member of Sauldam Baptist Church where she was the Sunday School Director of the Children's Department since 1974. She was a member and Past President of the Women's Auxiliary V.F.W. Post #9840 and the Auxiliary American Legion Post #145. She worked ten years in Public Relations with Coburg Dairy, Charleston and later retired from Ralph McKay Insurance Agency as an Insurance Agent. She is survived by her son: William J. Platt, Jr. of Charleston, five grandchildren: Jody Platt of Ravenel, Lisa Platt Chesser and husband Keith Chesser of Ravenel, Katie Magnuson of Wilmington, NC, Lacey Platt of Raleigh, NC and Hannah Platt of Wilmington, NC and four great grandchildren.
