Cleve R. Goss December 23, 1954 – September 24, 2020
Cleve was born in North Philadelphia the son of the late Cleve R. Goss Sr. and Mary Goss (nee Stinson.) Cleve attended St. Steven’s Parochial school on North Broad St. prior to the family resettling in the Frankford section. Cleve attended and graduated from St. Bartholomew’s and then on to North Catholic, and graduated from Frankford High School. Upon graduation, with job prospects bleak, and looking for some adventure, Cleve enlisted in the Army and the 101st Screaming Eagles at Fort Campbell, Kentucky in particular. He was a Vietnam era veteran, proud of his service. With his honorable discharge, he went on to start a career as a truck driver and could occasionally be found bartending at the old neighborhood VFW or his beloved Aquarium.
Cleve loved his career as a truck driver and Zieger and Son Flowers along with Franklin Electric were his favorites as a driver and he loved earning extra cash by bringing in wire reels. He drove for Franklin for many years until injury forced an early retirement.
Cleve is survived by his wife of thirty one years, Carol (nee McDevitt) sons Chris (Britt) and Timmy Madison (Nicole McMillan) sister Pam (Mike Mazzocca) and numerous nieces and nephews.
Friend and relatives are invited to celebrate Cleve’s life on Thursday morning, October 1, 2020 at St. Matthews Catholic Church located at Cottman Avenue and Hawthorne St. Phila Pa. 19149. Viewing from 9:15-10:15 immediately followed by his Mass of Christian Burial 10:30 am. Interment Private.
