Clifford's Obituary

Clifford Allen Loden, age 86, of Columbus, Mississippi, passed away on May 16, 2025, at his residence. 

Visitation will be held at Lowndes Funeral Home in Columbus, MS, on Tuesday, May 20, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, followed by a funeral service at 11:00 AM, officiated by Bro. Sammy Crawford and Bro. Tommy Gillon. Interment will be at 1:30 PM at Lee Memorial Park in Verona, Mississippi.

Born in Tupelo, Mississippi, on December 2, 1938, to the late Hollis Nash and Ruby Louise Stevens Loden. A proud veteran, Clifford served 20 years in the United States Air Force, achieving the rank of Technical Sergeant. His military journey took him across the globe, including posts at Lackland AFB and Amarillo AFB in Texas; Greenville and Keesler AFB in Mississippi; Reese AFB in Texas; Okinawa during the end of the Korean Conflict; Ubon, Thailand during the Vietnam War; MacDill AFB in Florida; Spangdahlem AFB in Germany; and Cannon AFB in New Mexico. Following his military retirement, Clifford continued contributing to his community. He worked briefly with Phillips Contracting Co. before dedicating 23 years to various contractors at Columbus AFB in Vehicle Operations and as an Aircraft Maintenance Leadman. Throughout his careers, he worked on a variety of aircraft such as the T33, T37, F86, F100, F4, and EB66. Mr. Loden was a faithful member of Fairview Baptist Church in Columbus, where he was active in the Sandy Sanders Sunday School Class. He was also a member of American Legion Post 69. He was preceded in death by his parents, Hollis Nash and Ruby Louise Stevens Loden; sister, Billie McCraw Hutcheson; and brothers, Doyle and Tommy Loden.

He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Martha “Marty” Martin Loden of Columbus; his son, Bradley (Misty) Loden; and granddaughter, Payton Loden.
