COBEY'S JOURNEYCobey Rocio was born July 10, 1935, in Bordelonville, Louisiana, to James Rocio and Orange Powell, who both preceded him in death.After some years, Cobey relocated to Beaumont, Texas. In 1956, he was hired by the Maritime Association as a Longshoreman at the Port of Beaumont, Local 1316. He met Mary Etta Davis and married her on September 1, 1956. To this union was born three daughters, Myra, Coretha, and Marilyn.At the Port of Beaumont, he was promoted to the position of Walking Foreman. He was very proud of that title. He held this position until he retired in 2002. He often talked about the many shipments from the Army and (toting) those heavy sacks. He loved his crew, and he referred to them as the "Hippie Gang." Only they will know what that meant.Cobey accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior. He joined Beech Grove Missionary Baptist Church under the guidance of Reverend Leo Chretien and became a Deacon. He referred to Leo as not just his Pastor but his friend.After the dissolution of his first marriage, he met Jessie Marie Wilson. They were married in August 1966. To this union were born three children, Cobin Jr., Ramona, and Christopher.After the passing of his wife Jessie, Cobey relocated to Los Angeles, California. Cobey was an ardent fan of the Dallas Cowboys. He owned almost every Dallas accessory. He loved traveling to places such as Jamaica, and he has been there twice, Florida, Hawaii, Mexico, Las Vegas, and many cruises. Cobey also loved traveling to different states to attend the Rocio/Rosaya family reunions. He spent lots of time fishing, going on outings, and just enjoying family and the many friends he made in California. Cobey was extremely popular and loved by everyone.Cobey departed this troubling world and entered his heavenly mansion, January 27, 2021. Preceding him in death are his parents; brothers; Joe Nathan Rocio, James Rocio Jr., Irving Lee Rocio, Anthony Rocio, and his sisters; Hanna Rocio and Maxine Matthews.He leaves to cherish his memories his children; Myra Rocio, Coretha Rocio, Marilyn Rocio Alexander; son-in-law, Perry Alexander, Cobin Rocio Jr., Ramona Rocio, and Christopher Rocio; brothers, Chester Rocio, Glenn Rocio, and Larry Rocio; sisters, Diana Dent, Geraldine Dent, Beverly Ford, and Charlotte Sparrow.Cobey also leaves 14 grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, someone special Cobey referred to as his other son, Robbin A.
