COLBY JAMES RASMASON
December 8, 1993 – April 9, 2024
Our beautiful son, brother, cousin, nephew, grandson, and friend Colby died peacefully at home.
He was thirty years old. He graduated from Westlake High School as well as Salt Lake Community College and was a student at Utah Valley University. Additionally, he was studying to become a Hypnotherapist.
Born to Steven Rasmason and Julie Shiner on December 8, 1993, Colby was a loving and loved older brother to Chase and Jacob and in turn admired his older brother Brian.
While in Junior High School and High School, Colby was an athlete who ran track and played tennis. He was an Advanced Placement student, earning several college credits while in High School. He had a beautiful mind and was fascinated with all topics to do with medicine and math. While in High School, Colby discovered a love for singing. He devoted many hours to practicing singing, and to honing his skills. From once suffering with Selective Mutism, he proudly sang a solo at both his younger brother’s and his mother’s funerals – the latter performed acapella!
Colby was a friend to many, lending a listening ear to anyone who needed a friend. He loved spending time in nature while hiking as well as just sitting peacefully – connecting with nature. He loved “camping” with his Father, Stepmother, and brother Chase in their trailer. He humored his Stepfather with conversations about sports – especially football. He had become skilled in the art of meditation and becoming emotionally centered.
He was a devoted Special Needs Bus Aide for more than eight years. He became a favorite among bus drivers and, most importantly, “his” kids. Colby sang to them, listened with empathy, and demonstrated that every individual was worthy of love and kindness.
Colby is survived by his parents, Steven and Trisha Rasmason, and Stepfather Robert Shiner; siblings, Brian (April) Done, Chase Rasmason, Doug (Maria) Irwin, Charlynn Irwin, and BreAnna (McKay) Murphy, as well as his beloved nieces and nephews, Grandpa Ray H. Allen, Grandpa Craig Shiner, Grandpa Bjorn and Grandma Charlene Wang, Grandma Merlynne Heaps, and lots of loving aunts, uncles, and cousins.
We know his mother Julie Shiner and younger brother Jacob Shiner will be so thrilled to see Colby again. Also preceded in death is Grandpa Oscar Joseph Rasmason and Grandma Rayma Rasmason and Grandpa William Winn (Bill) and Grandma Kona Mar (Konie).
We will celebrate Colby’s life with a viewing from 10:00 - 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, April 20th, 2024, at 496 River Way, Lehi, Utah, followed by his funeral from 11:00 – 12:00. He will be laid to rest in the American Fork Cemetery, next to his mother and younger brother.
