Connie held a special place in my heart growing up together and shared many bus rides together. As we grew older I’ve been blessed to have her as a co worker in our preschool classrooms together. She always lighted up everyone’s day just with her presence. She’s now with the people she’s loved the most, her parents !! I’m positive it was a beautiful place when Bette saw Connie again

Connie Trumm, 53, of Cascade, Iowa passed away peacefully Sunday, November 17, 2024, at her home in Cascade, Iowa.
Visitation for Connie will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. on Friday, November 22, 2024, at the Reiff Funeral Home in Cascade, Iowa, where a prayer service will be held at 3:30 p.m. Visitation will also be held after 9 a.m. on Saturday, November 23rd at the funeral home.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Connie will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, November 23, 2024, at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Temple Hill, Iowa, with Rev. Mark Osterhaus presiding, and assisting Deacon Joe Schockemoehl. Burial will follow in St. Peter’s Cemetery.
Connie was born on November 16, 1971, in Monticello, Iowa, daughter of Robert W. and Mary E. “Betty” (McCarthy) Trumm. She received her education at Aquin Elementary in Cascade and is a 1992 graduate of Western Dubuque High School in Epworth, Iowa.
Connie was born with Turners syndrome, and anyone who was fortunate enough to meet her knew that she would never hide behind any disability. Her sincerity and wit drew many people over the years to search for her, approach her, and enjoy an exchange with her. She would refer to the lucky ones as her friends.
After graduating high school Connie volunteered her time at Aquin preschool and daycare for at least 15 years. She enjoyed recognizing her former preschoolers when they showed up in the paper during their high school years or as they became married or even parents. Connie had special abilities with babies and small children and could calm the rowdiest ones. She lived for and loved to interact with her own nieces and nephews. And maintained a close bond with them as they grew to adulthood. She was especially fond of her two God children, Britney Noreen and David Trumm.
Connie knew all her cousins and kept track of their kids, often remembering their birth dates and who was winning by having the most grandkids. She had a special fondness for the gentlest animals like bunnies, butterflies and kittens. But her favorite of all of these was the beagle puppy. For nearly 20 years Connie maintained a family of beagles and sold litters of puppies. Later she would boast about having probably the largest collection of snoopy stuffed dogs and filled her bed with them leaving just enough room for herself at bedtime.
Connie was admired for her simple faith that she had in Jesus and her devotion to the Blessed Virgin. Connie was a member of the Dubuque County Right to Life and supported St. Peter’s Temple Hill, most recently contributing to the church renovation project. Connie will forever be missed by those who knew her.
Connie is survived by her five older siblings, Judy (Larry) Hayes of Peosta, Donna (Garry) Kennedy of Palatine, IL, Ann (Kipp) Noreen of West Dundee, IL,. Lois (Dan) Hayes of St. Donatus, and Joe (Sara) Trumm of Cascade; her 18 nieces and nephews, Molly (Justin) Bahl, Emily (Nick) Schmerbach, Ryan Kennedy, Matthew Kennedy, Brittaney (Chris) Jensen, Alexander (Abi) Noreen, Todd (Nadine) Noreen, Tyler (Andrea) Hayes, Mallory (Kody) Jones, and Abigail (Kris) Howes, Robert (Jordan) Trumm, Philip (Ella) Trumm, Carolyn (fiance', Jake Westhoff) Trumm, David (Emma) Trumm, Becky (Jacob) Bonert, Emily, Annie, and Katelyn Trumm; 16 great niece and nephews with three on the way; aunts and uncles, George Knepper, Ida Trumm and Lois Manternach.
She is also preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Margie Trumm; one niece, Natalie Hayes; grandparents, John & Elizabeth (Pottebaum) Trumm and Joseph and Agnes (Otting) McCarthy; and aunts and uncles, Robert and Jerry McCarthy, Mary (Fred) Reiter, John E. Trumm, LeRoy (Mary Clare) (Rosene) Trumm, Millie (Ed) Hosch, Alma Knepper, Dorothy (Larry) Yanda and Lloyd Manternach.
The family expresses heartfelt appreciation to Rev. Mark Osterhaus, and all the loving caregivers that provided their services to Connie for the past several years.
