Constance "Connie"'s Obituary

Early morning on Wednesday, July 19th, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, Constance Eileen Jane Kayafas, "Connie" peacefully passed away at the age of 89.

Born by the name of Hazel Eileen Jane on December 15, 1927 in Plymouth, England, she lived a life characterized by courage, love, and good humor.  She met Pete, her loving husband of 71 years, at a church dance in her hometown of Plymouth, England.  He taught her to jitterbug and they danced their way through the next 74 years.  Connie was one of the first English "war brides" to arrive in the states and was soon welcomed into the large Greek-American family of which she became an integral and loving part.Pete and Connie traveled the world, joyfully raising three wonderful children, Gus, Julie and Mary.  She had a life well lived, spreading her warmth and incredible joy to everyone.  She had a soulmate and partner in Pete, filled with a unique love for each other, life, family and friends.  Everyone she touched felt her warm and welcoming personality.  Connie made a difference in each life she encountered.Connie is survived by Pete and their three children, daughter-in-law, Arlette; sons-in-law, Ron and Ramiro; grandchildren, Peter, Aaron, Meagan,Jessi, Michele, Nicki and Austin; their partners Dodie, Kelly, Ryan, Jorge and Doug; and her great-grandchildren Megan, Saylor, Kyle, Noah, Owen, Summer.  Her love and her passion was her family and they will treasure and nurture the memories and love she shared.    A time of visitation is scheduled for 10:00 am to 11:00 am on Saturday, August 19, 2017 at Colonial Funeral Home, 201 Edwards Ferry Road NE, Leesburg, VA 20176 where a service will immediately follow starting at 11:00 am.   In lieu of flowers, please donate to The Alzheimer's Association at http://www.alz.org/donate or The Alzheimer's Association, 322 Eighth Avenue, 7th Floor, New York, NY 10001.
