Not sure what to say?

I was saddened to learn of Craig's passing. He was one of the "good guys" in school. My sincere condolences to his family and to all our fellow classmates.

So sorry to hear of Craig's passing! Played basketball with Craig at the Rutland Community Center for many years. A great player for being so short (like me), and always enjoyed his company. Condolences to the whole family!

Craig was such a kind man. My condolences to his family.

Deepest sympathy to all! Love to all, Wanda

Laura and Family, Craig was always so cheery and friendly at school. Always lending a hand and had the ability to put a smile on your face just with his smile. He will be missed by all. God bless you and keep you strong. Wishing you peace.

A very important piece to the family. Loved by many and will definitely be missed. Rip Uncle Craig.

Craig was a very good friend we were in school together he always had a smile and good personality RIP my friend until we meet again

Always enjoyed seeing and chatting with Craig at functions

I met Craig a few times through my friendship with his son Justin and he was always so kind and loving especially with his family! His grandchildren cherished him dearly. They talked about him a lot as little ones do! Love is the thing that binds us all. I am so sorry to hear of his passing and will keep you all in my thoughts.

Obituary

Craig's Obituary

Craig Steven Tousant, age 67, of Watertown, located in the Town of Rutland, New York passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 15, 2024, at University Hospital in Syracuse, New York.  Craig had been fighting a secondary cancer known as Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML).   Craig was the son of Lois and Carleton Tousant, younger brother to Bryan (Vicki) and older brother to Diane.

Following Craig's graduation from Copenhagen Central School in 1975, he worked on the family farm for a few years.  He then went to college and received his Associates Degree in Accounting from Jefferson Community College.  The highlight of Craig's college experience really was getting to play two seasons of intercollegiate soccer starting every game in the backfield as a defender (fullback).

Craig stayed involved in farming, one way or another, the rest of his life.  Running the farm, renting the farm to family, and then leasing the farm to neighbors.  Craig also worked for the Copenhagen Central School District as a Night Watchman/Cleaner.  He enjoyed the hustle and bustle of the school atmosphere.  Craig retired from the school in 2018.  Although fighting his primary cancer of Multiple Myeloma (MM) at this time, Craig continued to enjoy being a great husband, dad and grandpa for six additional years in his retirement.

Craig is survived by his wife of 41 years, Laura, oldest son Justin (Alicia), youngest son Richard (Jessica), and five grandchildren Sam(antha) 16, Harrison 10, Benjamin 7, Maddox 9, Jayna 1, who will all miss visiting Grandpa on the farm.  Craig is also survived by his dad, Carleton, brother Bryan (Vicki), sister Diane, and many nieces and nephews.

A Graveside Service will be held on Saturday, November 2, 2024 at 10:00am  at the Maple Hill Cemetery located on the Middle Road in the Town of Rutland.  A Celebration of Craig's Life will follow at the  Rutland Congregational Church, also located on the Middle Road in the Town of Rutland.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Craig's memory to Hospice of Jefferson County located at 1398 Gotham St., Watertown, NY   13601  Phone:  (315)788-7323
