Curtis Lee Vaughn, 81, of Purcell, died Saturday, February 6, 2021, at his home. The son of Silas Cornelius Vaughn and Margie Mae (Holland) Vaughn, he was born March 21, 1939, in Purcell, Oklahoma.
Curtis married Grace Lavada Johnson on June 20, 1978, in Chandler, Oklahoma. He worked as a farrier and racehorse trainer for many years. He was a member of the American Quarter Horse Association and the Thoroughbred Association. In his spare time, he enjoyed going to rodeos and reading. He loved horses and spent much of his time, caring for and training racehorses, and going to the racetrack. He was a devoted husband, and a loving father and grandfather. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant son; a son, Lee Robert Vaughn; a daughter, Cynthia Rohlings; one sister, Mary Sue Price; and two brothers, Bill Vaughn and Gene Vaughn.
Curtis is survived by his wife of 42 years, Grace Vaughn of Purcell; six daughters, Glenda Carmen and husband, Mitch, of Blanchard, Julie Coker and husband, Mike, of Texas, Donna Vaughn of Choctaw, Wyman Knight and husband, Larry, of Blanchard, Debbie Love and husband, Richard, of Midwest City, and Samantha Vaughn of Norman; one son, Jeff Peck and wife, Marla, of Minco; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren; one brother, Jack Vaughn and wife, Carolyn, of Washington; and many other relatives and friends.
Funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM, Wednesday, February 10, 2021, at the Eisenhour Funeral Home Chapel in Blanchard. Burial will follow in the Washington Cemetery in Washington.
