Daniel Patrick Daly

Daniel Daly Obituary

Daniel Patrick Daly, age 20, of Marlton, NJ unexpectedly passed away the morning of Saturday, April 30, 2016 in Cherry Hill Township, NJ.

Daniel was born in Voorhees, NJ and lived his life in Marlton.  He was a student of St. Joan of Arc Elementary School, Demasi Middle School, Cherokee High School and a 2014 graduate of Camden Catholic High School in Cherry Hill.  Daniel was completing his Associates Degree from Rowan College at Burlington County and was set to attend Rowan Main Campus next year.

Growing up, Daniel was an extremely active kid. He participated in Marlton recreational sports: soccer, as player and later a referee, baseball and karate.  Although he enjoyed all of them, the sport that stood out from among the rest, was wrestling.  Starting at age 11, Daniel spent 7 years wrestling for the JV and Varsity teams of Demasi Middle School, Cherokee and Camden Catholic High Schools.

Apart from sports, Daniel’s one true passion in life was participating in Boy Scouts of America.  Daniel began scouting at age 5, as a Tiger Cub Scout, in Pack 49.  He was a dedicated outdoor enthusiast, never missing a camping trip or community service project.  Daniel was the recipient of the Boy Scouts of America National Camping Award for his skills and his commitment to teaching his love for the outdoors to younger scouts.  In 2014, Daniel was honored to receive the rank of Eagle Scout, the highest rank in scouting, as part of Troop 100.  He is part of only 3% of all scouts that complete all 13 years of this program: from Tiger Scout to Eagle Scout.

Daniel is survived by his parents, Kevin and Patricia Daly; his sister, Vicki Daly, brother-in-law, Leigh Steinberg; and his grandmother, Eleanor Frederick.  Along with many Aunts, Uncles and Cousins of the Daly, Wojton, Gravenstine, Rieger, Hensel, Frey and Frederick families.

Friends and family are invited to a visitation on Saturday, May 7th from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM, immediately followed by a memorial service; both will be at the Mount Laurel Home for Funerals, 212 Ark Road, Mount Laurel, NJ.  Interment will take place following the service at Jesus, Bread of Life Cemetery, in Mount Laurel, NJ.

Because of Daniel’s dedication to scouting and community service, in lieu of flowers, please send donations made out to the “Daniel Patrick Daly Memorial Fund” to PO. Box 96, Marlton, NJ 08053.  This memorial fund will ensure that Daniel’s spirit, morals and passions for the outdoors and service for the community continue.

My beautiful baby cousin. He was the embodiment of youthful male beauty and the reckless abandon that can only be found in that age before life really gets a chance to break you down, wear you down, and force you into line. Danny was like Maria in The Sound of Music. And we were all the nuns who loved him but never knew what to do with him. He was everything in that song: he was a cloud we could never pin down, he was a wave upon the sand, he was the moonbeam we couldn't catch in our hands. He was our angel, our little devil, our lamb, our clown. He was endearingly mischievous and always got caught. He was never really able to get away with the usual nonsense and irresponsibility that most of us have. He was an adorable hyper bouncing off the walls little cherub who grew into a strapping young man who always turned heads. Our little Danny. Our beautiful little man. He was Pop-pop's special little helper. Grandpa adored him like the rest of us did. To my mother he became a surrogate son and she loved showering him in love and affection. He developed a stubborn streak as he neared adulthood but under that was the same sweet gentle kind and loving soul. He easily captured the hearts of those who knew him. We weren't given enough time with our baby. Not enough family dance parties, not enough movie nights, holiday dinners, or vacations. Not enough, not even a fraction of enough time with him. He had a lifetime of adventures before him that he will never embark on, dreams that he was meant to chase, and life to be lived. We have been robbed of our precious little soul. We won't get to watch him bloom into a man. We lost a special part of our hearts. There is no way to replace our Danny, no way to fill the void he left. He deserved so much more than what life gave him. He deserved the sun, the moon, and the stars. So many of us would have sacrificed anything to give them to him. Danny we love you and will never forget you sweetheart.

Family,
As parents we empathize and I wish I could lessen the depth of your sadness. I was with my son Tom as he learned of Dan's passing and I saw the look of disbelief in my son's eyes. My heart aches for all of you. You are in my thoughts and prayers.

Dear Daly Family,
My heart aches for all of you as you mourn the loss of not only a loved one, but a child, brother, cousin, and best friend. Words cannot express my sorrow and heartache due to such a tragic loss of a great man and an amazing human being. I knew Dan through a close friend and we were extremely close for a while. He is like my little brother and he will never be completely gone. He lives on through each of our memories and in our hearts forever. Rest in peace Dan Daly. We all love you!

Dear Daly Family,
My Son, Donovan (Donny) had a college math class with Daniel. Although Donny went to Cherokee too..class of 2015 he didn't know him until RCBC/ My son who is very shy, thought your son was just the nicest, craziest, friendliest kid around. Donny said he was always early for class and always played the Coldplay song, "Adventure of a Lifetime". One day he came to school with no shoes on!! He was a free soul and always happy-always talking and putting everyone at ease. Donny is very heartbroken to hear of his new friend's passing. Please accept our condolences. Daniel and your family will be in our prayers.
Blessings,
Noelle and Donny Hollingsworth

Dear Daly Family,
My heart is heavy with sadness to hear of Dan's passing. My son Justin and Dan were friends and I had the pleasure to know him from Justin and also Marcello's, he was always our delivery guy and was the most pleasant and polite young man. I will miss his smile and short conversations when he delivered our food. You raised a wonderful son and always remember he touched lives that you probably didn't even know. Patti, Kevin and Vickie- there are no words that I can say to help, my heart is bleeding as well. I love all of you and he was a social mentor for Brandon. I know that might not sound like much, but it was a job that God gave him to do on his short time with us. He is definitely the brightest star in Heaven.
