Peacefully on August 21, 2025, formerly of Oaklyn, NJ, passed away at the age of 83. Raised in Collingswood, Dan made Oaklyn his lifelong home, where he poured in his energy, humor and generosity into the people and community he loved.
In his younger years, Dan proudly served in the United States Coast Guard Reserves and was honored to take part in the honor guard at President John F. Kennedy's funeral service, a memory he carried with him all his life. He later became the owner of Kenmac Flowers in Collingswood, where his hard work and friendly spirit helped him build lasting connections with the community,
Dan's true joy, though, was in giving back. For more than two decades, he served on the Oaklyn Public School Board of Education. In addition, he coached soccer and baseball, umpired countless Little League games and sponsored local sports teams. Whether on the field, in the workplace or in the community, Dan was always there with encouragement, dedication and a willingness to lend a hand.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Elizabeth "Betty" Miller (nee James); his parents, Newton Eugene and Helen Miller; his brothers, the late Gene (Joyce) and the late Mike; sisters, the late Zoe (Frank) and the late Rita (the late Joseph).
Dan leaves behind his sister, Jeanine Jurman (the late Joseph); his children, Denise Powell (Ralph), Sharon Morgan (Mike), Kim Aydelotte (Dan) and Robert Miller (Melissa); his eight grandchildren, Katie, Jo, Amanda, Kristen, Kelly, Jonathan, Megan and Ralphie; and two great grandchildren, Beryl and Paola. He is also lovingly survived by many nieces, nephews and lifelong friends.
Relatives and friends are invited to his visitation on Saturday, September 6, 10 AM to 12 Noon at St. Joseph the Worker Parish, St. Aloysius Church, 37 W. Haddon Ave., Oaklyn, NJ. Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 12 Noon. Interment will take place privately for the family. Donations in Dan's memory may be made to Samaritan Healthcare and Hospice at www.samaritannj.org.
Dan will be remembered most for his jokes, unwavering generosity and most of all, his devotion to family and the love, pride and joy he found in them were the truest measure of his life.
