Danny passed away on September 13, 2024, after a lengthy illness at the age of 70. He was born in Sebastopol, California, on September 1, 1954, and lived his entire life in Guerneville attending Guerneville Elementary, El Molino High School (Class of ‘73) and Santa Rosa Junior College. His passion was music, particularly Jazz. He excelled playing trumpet in high school and continued playing and taking his Monday night Jazz Band classes through SRJC for many years. After class, he and other band members would go jam at various venues in Santa Rosa and Sebastopol. Danny also had a love of old Fords and motorcycles. He and his brother, Rick, would attend many professional races together, including a flight to Houston in 1980 for TT/Flat Track races. Danny worked at Bohemian Grove for over 40 years where he made many friends with co-workers and, through his love of music, many Grove members. He would play his trumpet with Grove musicians at events in the Grove and the annual Christmas party in the City Club.
Danny was preceded in death by his father, Daniel F. DeCarly, and his youngest brother, Darian Daveiro. He is survived by his mother, Connie Daveiro, and his children, Daniel DeCarly and Pella DeCarly Miller and her husband Aaron, and their newborn son, Calvin; his former wife, Nancy Biasca; and siblings, Rick (Barbara) DeCarly, David (Stefanie) Daveiro, John DeCarly, Mike DeCarly and Jill DeCarly, as well as nieces and nephews. He is also survived by cherished close friends and extended family, many going back to pre-school.
The family would like to thank the staff at Mirabel Lodge who treated Danny like a brother for the 2+ years he was there, and more recently to the nurses, chaplains and staff of Provident Hospice who helped with his peaceful transition. The outpouring of love and community support since Danny’s passing has been overwhelming.
A Celebration of Daniel’s life will be held on Sunday, November 24, at the Monte Rio Community Center, 20488 Highway 116, Monte Rio, at 1 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Russian River Firefighters Association (14100 Armstrong Woods Road, Guerneville, CA 95446) or Monte Rio Fire Services Foundation (P O Box 536, Monte Rio, CA 95462).
