Dan, Mary Beth, and the boys, and family and friends spent many summers in St. Joe’s, Michigan creating wonderful memories. Their 40th wedding anniversary was very special as the spent it on a European river boat cruise with friends.
Dan was the proud father of his three boys. He joined them on their Boy Scout camping trips, attended their high school plays, and was present at all of their sporting events. They brought him his greatest joy and a day didn’t go by without him feeling blessed to be their father.
Dan attended Lemont High School and Joliet Junior College. He worked for the post office for over 40 years. Starting as a letter carrier, moving on to a manager, and ending his career in vehicle operations.
Sports were Dan’s life. He enjoyed many years playing on softball teams, enjoying all the competitions. He started out coaching basketball in grade school at St. Cyril’s, moving on to Bishop Blanchette in Joliet, Lemont High School, Michael’s traveling team, and lastly York High School in Elmhurst. His love of basketball and coaching remained throughout the years. He also took an active part in Lemont Little League, coaching the children of Lemont, and his own boys. Many of his former athletes have remained in his life, which has been a testament to the bonds they have made.
One of Dan’s proudest accomplishments was being on the Park District Board. During his tenure he was instrumental in helping make the park district the success that it is today.
Dan was a lover of life. He loved to tell stories, and was always the last one to leave a party. His boys were always amazed that wherever he went, he always ran into someone he knew. He lived a full life.
Dan will be greatly missed. He was surrounded with the most caring and supportive family and friends anyone could ever hope for. Many gathered inspiration from his fighting attitude. He truly felt their love and support.
