Not sure what to say?

Happy B Day Lip!! I think of you everyday and want to say thank you for all you were to me and always will be. You taught me how to pick myself up after falling down and never ever give up. We don’t lose and I know you are winning in heaven every second. Until we meet again, love you brother forever.

Remembering Dan – One Year Later

It’s hard to believe it’s been a year since we lost Dan — a father figure, coach, mentor, and brother to me in every way that matters. Not a day goes by that I don’t think about him.

Dan had a way of showing up in life that left a lasting impression on everyone he met. He was positive when others were doubtful, optimistic when the road got hard, and unshakably loyal no matter what life threw at him. He never gave up — on people, on...

I can’t believe you have been gone for almost 1 year. There isn’t a day that goes bye that I don’t miss you. One day we will be together again my brother. Love you always and forever

I always think of Dan right around the Fourth of July. We were in Tom’s one year and started talking in how everyone leaves Lemont to go see fireworks else where, and that Lemont has grown so much we should have something on our town. Well darn if he didn’t run with it and waalaaa, look at it now! Full blown celebration. I always have a toast to him on the 4th, will always remember that. He was such a great person! He is truly missed.

Didn't know you passed. Thanks for humbling lessons as my basketball coach at Bishop Blanchette in Joliet. We won that triple overtime cyo regional championship in Joliet..took to long to reach out.

Dan and I had sons the same age. Our Little League Teams played each other several times. One game I thought he was stretching a rule, so I yelled at him. He just gave me that smile. It was impossible to stay mad at him. He did a fantastic job on the Park Board. He made something out of nothing with the Park Board in getting the bonds passed and building up. He delivered my mail for awhile. It was a guaranteed happy moment when he came by everyday. Dan was great brains and great...

Obituary

Daniel's Obituary

Daniel Michael Lipowski, 68, of Lemont, passed away on July 9, 2024.

He is preceded in death by his mother, Barbara Henson; brothers, Kenneth and Nicholas Lipowski. He is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Mary Beth, nee Hartwig, Lipowski; three sons, Kyle (Brittani), Matthew, and Michael; and his cherished grandchildren, Jackson, Dylan, and Kaila. Dan also leaves behind his siblings, Judith Capra and JoAnn (Michael) Falanga; brother in law, Edward (Julie) Hartwig; sister in law, Kathie Franks; along with numerous nieces and nephews.

Dan, Mary Beth, and the boys, and family and friends spent many summers in St. Joe’s, Michigan creating wonderful memories. Their 40th wedding anniversary was very special as the spent it on a European river boat cruise with friends.

Dan was the proud father of his three boys. He joined them on their Boy Scout camping trips, attended their high school plays, and was present at all of their sporting events. They brought him his greatest joy and a day didn’t go by without him feeling blessed to be their father.

Dan attended Lemont High School and Joliet Junior College. He worked for the post office for over 40 years. Starting as a letter carrier, moving on to a manager, and ending his career in vehicle operations.

Sports were Dan’s life. He enjoyed many years playing on softball teams, enjoying all the competitions. He started out coaching basketball in grade school at St. Cyril’s, moving on to Bishop Blanchette in Joliet, Lemont High School, Michael’s traveling team, and lastly York High School in Elmhurst. His love of basketball and coaching remained throughout the years. He also took an active part in Lemont Little League, coaching the children of Lemont, and his own boys. Many of his former athletes have remained in his life, which has been a testament to the bonds they have made.

One of Dan’s proudest accomplishments was being on the Park District Board. During his tenure he was instrumental in helping make the park district the success that it is today.

Dan was a lover of life. He loved to tell stories, and was always the last one to leave a party. His boys were always amazed that wherever he went, he always ran into someone he knew. He lived a full life.

Dan will be greatly missed. He was surrounded with the most caring and supportive family and friends anyone could ever hope for. Many gathered inspiration from his fighting attitude. He truly felt their love and support.
