Daniel William MacGirr of Burton and Flint, age 89, died Friday December 14, 2018 at Genesee Gardens. Honoring his wishes cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Private burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery on the family plot. Daniel was born in Boon Michigan on September 2, 1929 the son of the late Clifford & Jane “Leona” (Coon) MacGirr and has resided in the Burton-Flint area most of his life. He was joined in marriage to Wilma Vogt on December 23, 1953 in Frankfurt, Germany and she preceded him in death on April 7, 1998. Answering the call of his country Daniel served in the US Army during WW II. He was a member of IOOF of Thompsonville, Michigan, and had been employed by General Motors Chevrolet SPO for over thirty-five years.
Surviving are sisters Gayla (Norman “Lynn”) Collard and Eleanor Nordbeck, and sister-in-laws Sheila MacGirr, Joyce MacGirr, and Betsy MacGirr. He also leaves brother-in-law Charles Blair and a host of nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by brothers Clifford, Howard, Delmar, James, and Terry MacGirr, sister Betty Blair, sister-in-law Gloria (Delmar) MacGirr, and brother-in-law Wayne (Eleanor) Nordbeck.
