Epsom, NH - Daniel Edward McGrath died peacefully in Epsom Healthcare Center on November 12, 2025 at the age of 80. Daniel McGrath was born on September 24, 1945 in Florence, Italy to Marisa Ester Cittadini and John Francis McGrath. Marisa was a WWII Bride of War. She and Daniel boarded the U.S.A.T Algonquin ship, which disembarked in New York, and they later settled in Boston, Massachusetts. Daniel was the eldest of five siblings; Marisa Elizabeth McGrath, JoAnne Clara McGrath, James Michael McGrath and John Patrick McGrath. Daniel proudly served his country as a Fire Control Technician in the United States Navy aboard the USS Floyd B. Parks, a Gearing-class destroyer. He completed three six-month tours off the coast of Vietnam, where the ship’s primary mission was the recovery of Air Force and Navy pilots who had been shot down in combat. His service was marked by courage, discipline, and an unwavering sense of duty. Upon returning home, Daniel continued to build a life grounded in hard work and determination. He earned his degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Oklahoma, a milestone that opened the door to a fulfilling 30-year career with the United States Postal Service. After retiring from the USPS, he went on to serve an additional decade as a contractor for Harris Corporation, where his expertise, integrity, and problem-solving skills were deeply valued.Daniel met Mervot Abdou Ghobrial Mekhail in Manhattan, New York and quickly fell in love. They were married on November 18, 1984, and over the next 41 years built a beautiful life together. Their marriage was marked by deep devotion, shared laughter, and countless adventures. Together, they raised three beloved children; Alan Derrick McGrath, Jessica Florence Postlethwaite, and Ashlie Margaret McGrath; instilling in them the values of kindness, curiosity, and perseverance. Daniel was a devoted husband and a nurturing father, always encouraging his children to pursue their dreams and making sure they knew how deeply they were loved. He is also survived by a granddaughter, Isabella Florence Postlethwaite. He approached life with wit, courage, and remarkable intelligence. His passions were many: gardening, cars, technology, woodworking, music, theatre, camping, stargazing, home-cooked meals, sustainability, and most of all, his family.A celebration of life will be held at the Chadwick Funeral Home, New London, New Hampshire followed by Navy Funeral Honors at The New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery at 110 Daniel Webster Highway, Boscawen, New Hampshire.
