Daniel's Obituary

Daniel Gerard McKay Sr,. passed away on Sunday, May 14, 2023 in Sebring, Florida at the age of 76. The son of George D. McKay and Lillian A. (Bueche) McKay.  He was born on June 22, 1946 in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Daniel worked as a postal manager for the government and proudly served his country in the US Coast Guard from 1965-1969. He was a devout Catholic and grew up in St. Alphonsus Church. Daniel was native to West Michigan but wintered in Sebring the last 20 years. He was a member of the VFW post #258 for 50 years. His hobbies included golfing, reading, and fishing. Daniel is survived by his loving wife Josephine;  children – Daniel Gerard McKay Jr., – Diane McKay and Denise (Brian) Krause; step-children – Brian (Nenia) McCune, Jody (Robert) McColgan, Amanda (Joseph) Baker and Russell Palmitier II; sisters – Arlene Hummel and Patricia Rockwell; brother – Mack McKay (Douglas). Also surviving are 30 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother – Tom McKay and a step-son – Gordon McCune and a sister - Dorothy McCarthy. Join us to remember and celebrate the life of Dan on June 23, 2023 from 4:00-7:00 pm at the Casino Club of Grand Rapids  3260 Salerno Dr  N.E. Grand Rapids, MI 49525.
