Daniel's Obituary

In the tapestry of life, certain threads stand out with a vibrancy that leaves a lasting impression. Daniel Allen Mock was one such thread, woven into the lives of countless individuals, leaving behind a legacy of love, dedication, and kindness.

Born on December 14, 1948, in Gary, Indiana, Daniel was the cherished son of Thomas and Gertrude Mock. From an early age, he exhibited a spirit full of energy and passion, particularly for sports. Baseball captured his heart, becoming not just a pastime but a lifelong enthusiasm. His days spent playing in various leagues and achieving recognition as a standout in high school filled his youth with joy and camaraderie. Even as he grew older, Daniel's love for the game persisted as he played in the Riverview Park Beer League, hitting many out of the park homeruns. He took immense pleasure in collecting baseball cards, generously sharing his collection with his grandsons and friends alike.

At the tender age of 20, Daniel embarked on a career as an Ironworker, a path that would define his work life for the next 45 years. His pride in being part of Ironworkers Local 395 was evident, as he poured his heart into every beam he lifted and every structure he helped create. He approached his work with the same dedication he applied to all aspects of his life, embodying the values of hard work and perseverance.

Amidst his career achievements, Daniel found his true love in Peggy, whom he met when they were just 15 years old. Their bond blossomed into a lifelong partnership, culminating in their marriage on November 8, 1969. Together, they embraced life's adventures, traveling and creating beautiful memories as they raised their three beloved children. Daniel's devotion to his family was unwavering—he actively participated in their lives, volunteering for their activities and supporting them in every endeavor. It was clear that his role as a father brought him immense pride and joy. When he became a grandfather, it was apparent that they were the light of his life. He was so proud to be their Grandpa.

Beyond his family, Daniel left an indelible mark on his community. He was a role model, someone whose actions spoke volumes about compassion and support for others. Those who had the privilege of knowing him experienced firsthand his generous spirit and the warmth of his character. Whether through a kind word or a helping hand, Daniel was always ready to uplift those around him.

Daniel passed away on September 10, 2025 surrounded by his family and beloved grandchildren. The light he shared will continue to shine in the hearts of many. His legacy is one of love, compassion, and friendship—a testament to the man he was.
