Dan was my neighbor for about 50 years. After my husband passed away Dan was always there when I needed a helping hand. When I had garage door troubles, a fire in my stove oven, my water heater needed to be relit Dan would have everything repaired with new parts by the time I got home from work. I always felt safe when Dan and Ruth were home.
My deepest sympathy to Danielle, Keely and Brady.
RIP Dan.you are now with Ruth.

Daniel E. Swendrowski, age 89 of Oak Creek, Wisconsin passed away Thursday, January 5, 2023 at Clifden Court, where he resided for the past 4 ½ years. Dan was born on August 27, 1933, son to Michael and Laura (nee Zielinski) Swendrowski. Dan began working at Ladish Company in Cudahy at 18 years of age and retired from there many years later. He was proud of his position as inspector in the forge shop as parts he inspected went to the moon on space shuttles. He was united in marriage on September 1, 1956 to Ruth (née Wiench) Swendrowski. Dan and Ruth were married 60 years before losing his lovely wife Ruth in June of 2017.
Those who knew Dan knew he was a hard working, complicated, kind man who was always the first one to volunteer to help a neighbor or a friend. He completed many projects around the house by *learning as you go* and to his credit, with friend’s help, he later added a sunroom onto their Oak Creek home that they enjoyed thoroughly through the years. Dan enjoyed sports, the Packers, Brewers, college basketball, Brett Favre and cheered for any team that played against the Packers once Aaron Rodgers became the quarterback. Dan had three different Farve jerseys with different teams to show his devotion and support to Brett Favre. Dan had interests to include gardening and growing tomatoes as big as your hand. He was an avid deer hunter for many years in Independence, Wisconsin which was more about the shenanigans, comradery and laughter of a large group of family and friends who looked forward to this every year. Earlier in his years he coached multiple softball teams for both Rick (his son) and Danelle (his daughter) as well as other friends through the years. He loved nothing more, later in life, than watching his grandkids, Keely and Brady play soccer, baseball, football and basketball. He and Ruth spent a large amount of their retired life at the family cabin in Montello, WI where they fished, hung out with neighbors and just enjoyed the peacefulness of the area.
Dan is survived by his daughter Danelle Veihmeyer (partner Chris Ochalek), treasured grandchildren, Keely and Brady Veihmeyer as well as many loved nieces and nephews, relatives and caring friends. He is preceded in death by his wife Ruth, son Richard (Rick) Swendrowski, parents and brothers, Leonard, Jerome, Melvin and Fr. Patrick Swendrowski.Dan’s family wishes to thank all the wonderful CNAs at Clifden Court who lovingly cared for him these last four years as well as the staff at Legacy Hospice. A special thank you to Chloe, music therapist at Legacy who lit up Dan’s day each and every time she visited him.
Funeral Services for Dan will be held Saturday, February 11, 2023 at 1:00 p.m. at Sunset Options Funerals, 904 E. Rawson Avenue, Oak Creek, WI 53154. Family will greet relatives and friends at the funeral home from 11:00 am - 1:00 pm. After serving in the Army during the Korean Conflict, Dan will join his wife Ruth at the Southern Wisconsin Veterans Cemetery in Union Grove in a private ceremony.
