Darin's Obituary

Darin Nicholas Heath passed away in Las Cruces, New Mexico on July 24, 2025 following a long struggle with chronic illness. Darin was born in Blythe, California on October 21, 1983. He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Mel Heath and his father, Ross Heath. Darin is survived by his mother, Cruz Heath; his grandmother, Tamara Heath; his daughter, Shaula Johnston and her spouse, Jordan Johnston; his granddaughters, Soraya and Josie; his aunt, Juli Heath; and his cousins, Joe and Marcus Heath.

Darin grew up in Blythe where he made his home until the final two years of his life. He graduated from Palo Verde High School in 2002. During his high school years, Darin was active in FFA (4 years) and ROTC (3 years). He also attended Palo Verde College.

Growing up, Darin could be found hanging out with his dad and his grandfather playing music or reloading ammunition. He loved going fishing at the Colorado River and in various canals throughout the Blythe area. Darin developed a love of dogs at a very early age. He was passionate about his dogs, Chubbs and Iris, and his last act of kindness was to save an abandoned four-month-old puppy he named Rico. Like his father and grandfather, Darin was an avid storyteller.

Reflecting upon Darin’s short life brings memories of bright, shining eyes, a beautiful smile, and a glint of mischievousness. From his early years onward, Darin faced numerous health and other challenges which he struggled to overcome. He found comfort in his music, the support of his family, and the company of his pets.

A graveside memorial service will be held at Palo Verde Cemetery in Blythe on November 7, 2025, at 10:00 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate charitable donations be made to Animal Rescue in Darin’s name.
