The park greatly benefited with his devotion.

07 Happy together.

The world lost an original.

Darrel had such an outstanding impact on every single member of my family. He was considered a dear friend, whose quality of character and overall good-natured heart shined brighter than his love for the community, art, nature and history.

I first met Darrel immediately following hurricane Charlie in 2004. The morning after the storm he showed up to Highlands Hammock to help "dig out" the residents who lived in the park - my family included....

The Professors

The CCC Man

A man many admired. Darrel - he was very good to me. A role model. When l broke my leg, he kept my class going. l liked hanging out with him. He was a great teacher and man... The CCC Man. l wouldn’t have been a professor for 8 years with out his encouragement. That was the best of times. THANK YOU DARREL

He was a good friend and a great family man. He will always have a special place in my heart.

Sending our sympathies to family and friends and may you find comfort in your found memorizes. We were fortunate to have spent sometime with Darrel at Hammock state park and enjoyed his special tour behind the scenes.

In memory of Darrel, who changed my life in the moments we shared over the years. He was a talented and intelligent man who shared his gifts willingly with many. His courage in the adversities he experienced was inspirational to me. My love and prayers to his family who faithfully shared his endeavors and his struggles. I love you all.
