Darrell's Obituary
New Iberia -Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 am, on Thursday, July 2, 2015, at Pellerin Funeral Home in New Iberia, for Darrell Thibodeaux Jr., 36, who passed away on Saturday, June 27, 2015, in New Iberia.A gathering of family and friends will be Wednesday from 4:00 PM until 9:00 PM at Pellerin Funeral Home in New Iberia. A rosary will be prayed at 7:00 PM Wednesday. Visitation will continue on Thursday from 8:00 AM until 10:00 AM.Rev. Nicholas DuPry will officiate Interment will follow at Broussard Cemetery in New Iberia. Darrell attended NISH where he was in band and played the saxophone. He loved the sport of inline speed skating and competed on a regional and national level. He also competed at the Banked Track and Road Championship at the Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs. Darrell was an avid fan and friend of the Band Soilent Green, which he attended several concerts with his brother Jude.Darrell cherished his time with his son Colt, playing video games and going to the park. His son loved to watch his Dad play the guitar. Darrell was a great son, brother, and father. Although he struggled with bi-polar, he somehow always could make others smile. He was always there for his friends when they needed advice. In the end, being the unselfish person that he was, he chose to be a organ donor. In doing so, he was the first person at Dauterive Hospital to be an organ donor in at least 14 years. He was always a hero to his family, but now he is a hero to many. Survivors in his parents Darrell and Virginia "Ginger" Duhon Thibodeaux of New Iberia; son, Colt Manning Thibodeaux of St. Francisville; brother, Jude Thibodeaux of Lafayette; grandmother, Johanna Delcambre Bourgeois of New Iberia; godchildren, Kimberly Duhon and Courtney Thibodeaux; former wife, Kaitlyn Cheatham Thibodeaux of St. Francisville; godparents, Burton "Buddy" Duhon of New Iberia and Lisa Thibodeaux Simon of New Iberia; and his beloved pet dogs, "T-Rex" and "Pelou".
