Darren was a bright spot in everyone's day at Reser's.
Not a day went by that he didn't have a friendly word or smile for those around him. When he was frustrated or tired, it was never expressed in anger. When he was busy, he still had a kind word. He worked hard and made everyone's job easier.
We will miss him. May he rest in peace as he deserves.

Darren Lamont Blanding, the son of Shirley Blanding and Charles Hammiel, was born on September 12, 1974, in Newark, New Jersey. He departed this earthly life on Tuesday, October 29, 2024.
Darren attended Irvington High School in Irvington, New Jersey. H was employed as a foreman at Resser’s Fine Foods in Halifax, North Carolina.
He leaves to cherish his memories his wife, Lori Blanding of Rhode Island; mother, Shirley Blanding of Roanoke Rapids, NC; a daughter, Kamyrah; an uncle, Paul Blanding of Scotland Neck, NC; aunts, Annette, Debra McGuire, and Evelyn Phillips, all of Roanoke Rapids, NC; a very special cousin, Tasha N. Blanding; and a host of other cousins and friends.
A funeral service was held on Saturday, November 2, 2024, at 12:00 pm in the chapel of Shawn Lea Funeral Home, 515 E. 12th Street, Scotland Neck, North Carolina. Burial followed in the Staton Memorial Cemetery, 725 River Road, Scotland Neck, North Carolina. A Public Viewing was held one hour prior to the funeral service from 11:00 am – 12:00 pm.
