I worked with Dave for 7 years and consider him a friend. Not only did Dave's passion for the St. Louis Cardinals and his volunteer work shine through at work, but I always noticed the special gleam in his eye when he spoke about his family. Dave will be deeply missed. Our most sincere condolences go out to all of Dave's family and friends. You will be in our thoughts and hearts.

Over the years as I've gotten to know Kathy through our therapy dog programs we participate in, I've also got to know about Dave. As he worked long hours, I only got to see him a few times. Kathy and Dave had a very special and strong relationship and as Kathy said, she lost the "love of her life and best friend." What a gift. Our prayers are with you Kathy and all the family that God will lift you up in this very difficult time. We are there for you now and in the future. All our love.

David L. Baker, of Simi Valley, California, passed away on October 17, 2013. He was a quiet, unassuming man with great intelligence and a wonderful sense of humor. Dave was often the person who would patiently listen to a discussion and then suddenly interject just at the right time and bring immediate laughter.David was born in St. Louis, Missouri. He proudly served his country in the Navy during the Vietnam War on the USS Intrepid. He was honorably discharged for serving his country for seven years. A military honor guard will present his widow with the US Flag during the memorial to honor his commitment and devotion to the United States of America. David was an avid baseball fan of the St. Louis Cardinals often traveling back to Busch Stadium with Kathy to watch his beloved Cardinals play. He also enjoyed hiking, going to the movies, wine tasting, watching sports and cooking. David was also a very caring person who often volunteered for several years at a homeless shelter cooking the holiday meals for the homeless. David is survived by his wife of 24 years, Kathy; his mother, Alice Baker; his sons, Shawn and Keith Baker; his grandson Riley; his brothers, Steve, Mike and Don Baker; his nieces and nephews, and the rest of his family and friends. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to the Guide Dogs of America, 13445 Glenoaks Blvd., Sylmar, CA 91342 The funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on October 25, 2013 at Rose Family Funeral Home at 4444 Cochran St., Simi Valley CA 93063.
