Not sure what to say?

Dr. Conkle, I cherished knowing you and your family while Merik and I attended Sewanee. It was always apparent that you had a big 'ole heart. I'm grateful for my friendship with your family, for you welcoming me into your home and onto your boat, and for allowing me to supervise you performing a coronary bypass operation during my formative years at Sewanee. My late father, Ray-also a son of The South- thought highly of you and enjoyed talking to you at Parents' Weekend. Lastly, I want to...

My husband had to have open heart surgery in 1985 and was blessed to have Dr Conklin as his surgeon. He was a very loving and kind doctor. My husband thought he was wonderful. So sorry to heard of his passing.

Doc was a wonderful, kind and giving man. He will be missed by anyone who knew him. Prayers for your family and our community.

Pensacola will never be the same because of the difference one life has made. David was a friend, and an inspiration to all of us doctors to do more than was needed. He never knew what the word retirement meant and embraced his last years not as the Golden Years but he years to give more. he never stopped giving his care and knowledge to the poor, the needy, the uninsured. What a passion he had.

I am so fortunate to have had the opportunity to work with Dr. Conkle multiple times during my 45 years of surgical nursing. Dating back as a member of the Medical Center's Surgical Department nursing staff and again after turning to Pensacola to retire, volunteering at Our Lady of Angels Clinic. Dr. Conkle was loved by staff and patients alike for his commitment to providing excellent and compassionate care, his incredible story telling sessions, and his wonderful sense of humor. We will...

May your hearts soon be filled with wonderful memories of joyful times together as you celebrate a life well lived.

What a Prince of a man. I met Doc aboard his boat in the Caribbean. A mutual friend introduced us, and from that moment on he invited me to ride along with him and his guests any day I wanted. I got to know him in his most relaxed and happy environment. Such a down to earth, gracious, and humble man. God Speed Doc. Thank you for your friendship.

I knew David from MCC and WFH for many years. David was a hardworking, bright and caring individual who made the place better for the patients and the rest of us too. Sorry that he is gone.

Dr.Conkle was a kind and caring person. I was his nurse in the late 70s. He said to me “The most important thing I want is for our patients to say I can’t wait to see Pam and Dr.Conkle!” The patients would get mad at me because they had to wait awhile to see him. Once they were with him they relaxed and all was well. Dr. Conkle talked to them about fishing and hunting long before he got to the reason they were there. He was so loved by them. He had such a wonderful life after he retired....
