David Glassburn Gabriel of North Andover died on March 16, 2026 at the Andover Manor Nursing Home in Andover. He was 75 years of age. He was born in Huntington, WV on July 1, 1950, to the late David Chace Gabriel and Janora Louise Gabriel (nee Glassburn).
Dave graduated from Wayland High School (class of ’68) and then UMASS Amherst (class of ’73) with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Painting. He worked for the Massachusetts Department of Fish and Game for 32 years as the Art Director and Designer of Massachusetts Wildlife Magazine.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 44 years, Judith “Judy” (nee Hunt); four children & their spouses, Daniel & Jennifer Gabriel of Dedham, Alexandra & Joshua Terenzoni of Peabody, Andrew of North Andover, and Tyler of North Andover; four grandchildren, Nathaniel and William Gabriel, and Luna and Ronin Terenzoni; as well as his sister, Lisa Gabriel of Ohio; and many extended family and friends.
Dave was an avid pursuer of projects and people, a Jack of All Trades that collected many skills and friends on his adventures through art, writing, live music, and martial arts. He was an avid outdoorsman, never happier than when he was spending his time in New Hampshire and Maine, surrounded by mountains and lakes and the beaches of New England’s coastline.
Whatever Dave gave of himself to his family, friends, and multitude of projects, he gave even greater to God. Born into a home of great faith, he had a deep faith in Jesus. In an essay he wrote, “The thing that gave life real meaning was the love of, and service to God.” He and his family worshipped at the First Baptist Church in Reading.
As we lay him to rest among the trees and stones of the earth he loved so much, we are heartened to know how joyously he will be welcomed into heaven, reunited with the Lord and all those loved ones who passed before him, with the wholeness of mind we wished we could have enjoyed with him in his last years. To quote the man himself: we’ll miss you wildly, Dave, and we love you madly.
The Funeral/Celebration of Life will be on Saturday, March 28 at 11am, First Baptist Church, 45 Woburn Street, Reading, MA. Lunch after at Andiamo’s in North Andover. All are welcome. Arrangements by the Douglass, Edgerley & Bessom Funeral Home, Reading.
