David's Obituary

David A. Gaszak passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family, on Sunday, April 27, 2025, at the age of 82.

David will be remembered most for the quiet strength and unwavering love he brought to his family. He was a devoted husband who lived his vows every day, not just in words, but in the way he cared for his wife through every season of life, both joyful and difficult. As a father, he led with patience, integrity and gentle wisdom, raising two strong, independent daughters who carried his values forward. But perhaps nothing brought him more joy than being a grandfather. His face lit up in the presence of his three granddaughters, and in their laughter, he found his greatest happiness.

At his core, he was a man who saw people for who they truly were and loved them as they were. He offered acceptance without judgement and kindness without condition. He was the kind of man that made others feel safe, seen, and valued. His love was steady, his presence a constant source of comfort, and his legacy will live on in the hearts of those he loved and those lucky enough to have been loved by him.

He is survived by his devoted daughters Becky Shafstall (nee Gaszak) and Jodi (Lexa) Gaszak; and the beloved grandfather of Elsa, Irene, and Sophie Shafstall. David was the cherished brother of Jerome (Patti) Gaszak, and is also remembered fondly by his sister-in-law, Barbara (Ted Wosika) Gnat, as well as many cousins, nieces, and nephews. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Cheryl Gaszak; his parents, Joseph and Mabel Gaszak; and his sister and brother-in-law, Sharon and Walter "Duke" Duket.

Visitation for David will be held Saturday, October 25, 2025 at St. Adalbert Cemetery (3801 S 6th St, Milwaukee, WI 53221) from 10:30 to 11:30am., followed by a memorial service beginning at 11:30am. The internment of David and Cheryl Gaszak will take place Immediately after the memorial. Luncheon at Emerald City (3555 South 13th Street, Milwaukee, WI 53221) will follow.
