David J. Jasper

David “Dave” Jasper, 72, of Bernard, IA, died on Tuesday, October 7th, 2025 at home, surrounded by his family. 

Visitation for Dave will be held from 2 to 7 p.m., Sunday  October 12, 2025 at the Reiff Funeral Home in Farley, Iowa, where a prayer service will be held at 1:30 p.m.  Visitation will also be held on Monday, October 13th after 8:30 a.m. at the funeral home.

A Mass of Christian burial  for Dave will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, October 13, 2025 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Garryowen Iowa, with Rev. Mark Osterhaus Officiating.  Burial will be held in the church cemetery

Dave was born September 17, 1953.  On June 15,1974 he was united in marriage to Beverly Bell.  They were rarely seen apart during their 50 years together, always happily by each other’s side. She proceeded him in death on November 20, 2024.

Dave worked for Tschiggfrie Excavating and then Portzen Construction for many years until he retired in 2013. If you knew Dave, you knew “retirement” did not mean rest and relaxation. He had to always be busy doing something. So; In his retirement years, he enjoyed working alongside his family at Simon Lawn Care, until his health no longer allowed. His 656 Hydrostat tractor and brush hog mower will never cut grass the same way without him.

A farm boy at heart, he loved tractors - red ones. Countless hours were spent in his shop restoring and modifying his collection. Dave’s pride and joy being his Dad’s tractor, the International 656, or “The 6” as it was fondly called.  Dave was a member of the Rivers and Bluffs Tractor Club.  The friendships Dave, Bev and Rod made through this group while planning routes and going on rides were priceless. 

Dave was also a proud supporter of Midwest Pride in Your Ride for many years.  An organization Dave and Bev held close to their heart. 

Tending to the apple orchard, watching go-kart races, trips to the Amish and endlessly searching for tractor parts were some of his favorite pastimes.  Dave also loved spending time with family and the many friends and neighbors in their close-knit community of Bernard.

Dave was proceeded in death by his wife, Bev; and grandson, Will Jasper in infancy and a brother-in-law Jerry “Goose” Drees.

Those left to cherish his memory are his children, Crystal (Nick) Simon, of Farley, IA; Rodney Jasper, at home; Brian (Kim) Jasper, of Dubuque, IA; and Jenny (Rayen), Davis, of Oxford Junction IA. Grandchildren, Logan and Brynlee Simon; Faith, James, and Jeannie Jasper; Dalton and Maria Davis. 

Siblings, LuAnn (Rick) Kauffmann, of Farley, IA; Dan (Darla) Jasper, and Joyce (Ron) Massey, both of Epworth, IA; Becky (Ted) Simpson of Pecatonica, IL; and Sandy (Doug) Konrady, of Dubuque, IA. 

In-laws, Ding (Marilyn) Bell, of Dubuque, IA; Barb Drees of Farley, IA, Janet (Phil) Then, of Epworth, IA; Belinda (Steve) Siglin, of Tiffin, IA; Tom Bell, Bill (Jill) Bell, Becky Bell, all of Farley, IA

A Daughter-in-law Ronda Jasper of Dubuque, IA 

And many nieces and nephews.

The family would like to extend special thanks to Hospice of Dubuque, nurses Tammy, Hillary and Nicole; and Belinda Siglin, your kindness and compassion will never be forgotten.
