Great Uncle David told stories about my grandfather Bill McKindley.

He also eagerly talked about handloading and taught us how to tie a bowline on a bight knot.

In his room he was happy to eat a donut and he told me about a supercharger for a hot rod.

So lucky we got to visit and spend time with the last member of my grandparents' generation, and his son Tim and daughter Susan.

I visited Uncle David back in September of 2022. We are shown here at daughter Susan Deogracias' home in Lakewood with David's son, Timothy. I am in the middle.

Uncle David was always kind and generous to me. His daughter, Susan, my cousin Gail, and I were all the same age. Susan and I attended two years of high school together. It was always a treat to visit the cousins in Inglewood with the large backyard and all those hot rods and vintage cars and trucks.
As an adult, Uncle David was kind to support me when I and my cousin Catherine rode our bicycles 575 miles from San Francisco to Los Angeles in support of the AIDS crisis.
