David Louis Moreno, 65, of Fairmont, North Carolina, passed away on August 13, 2025.
Born on February 22, 1960, in Los Angeles, California, David lived a life defined by hard work, love for family, and a deep passion for the simple joys of life. He worked in construction, where his strong work ethic and hands-on spirit left a lasting mark on those who knew him.
David was an avid fisherman and a devoted fan of the Dallas Cowboys and NASCAR racing. Whether casting a line by the water or cheering on his favorite drivers, he found joy in the moments that brought people together.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Judith Dianne Hunt, his mother, Adell Brooks Clark; his father, William Louis Moreno; stepfather, Pete “Clayton” Clark; two brothers, William “Billy” Moreno and Robert “Bobby” Moreno; uncles Steven and JC Brooks; and grandson, Jacoby O’Ryan Deese.
David is survived by his two loving daughters, Tracy Nicole Deese (Henry) and Jessica Elizabeth Moreno; six siblings, Foncine Hunt, Dolores Moreno Hunt (Robert), Cynthia Moreno Freeman, – all of Lumberton, Stephen Marty Elvrum, Danny Elvrum (Onita) of Fairmont, and LaDell “Kelly” Moore (Charlie) of Lake Waccamaw. He also leaves behind three cherished grandchildren: Samantha Dianne Dixon, Cheyenne Taylor Jacobs, Austin Nicolas Dixon, Christopher Jared Hunt, Jessie Sierra Moreno, Jacob Chandler Jacobs, and Jaylan Question Jacobs. Along with great-grandchildren who brought immense joy to his life. A special cousin, Reese Jr., also held a meaningful place in David’s heart and life, sharing a lifelong bond of family and friendship.
A celebration of life service to honor David, will be held on August 23rd, 3:00 pm at Maranatha Church of God, 712 N Main Street, Fairmont, North Carolina.
